South KoreaThe comfort of green rice fields. Sigiriya Rock can be seen clearly from the accommodation. The accommodation was very basic but not uncomfortable. We stayed for 3 nights, the water worked fine and the electricity went out once. I ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day and lunch at a village restaurant, and the skills of the hotel chef ‘Saranggu’ seemed to be the best in Sigiriya. We were very surprised. I liked the feeling of traveling to the countryside. The village scenery and people were very nice. I also want to see the big, gentle dog ‘Roxy’. And there is a tuk-tuk selling bread that comes in front of the accommodation every morning and evening.

This became our favourite hotel out of all the hotels we stayed during this journey. It was a great time for us during the two nights we stayed in this hotel. It's an echo friendly, sustainable, nature loving hotel with immense of activities to enjoy whilst your stay.
Fabulous staff starting from the cleaning staff in the garden, security (third party), bell desk, waiters, cooks, chefs, room service, housekeeping, laundry staff, and management everyone amazing. Very helpful, more generous, and always willing to do their job beyond the expected level. Really appreciated. Some of them were exceptional; Asitha, Lilanga, Melani, Chamara, Ranjith, Dananjya, Nalini, Senaratne, Sugath, Sumith, Thakshila and room services boy.
Accommodation: We stayed at "Tamarind" a superior suite. Only two of these for the hotel. It was kind of a small home for us. Had lots of space. King Bed was superb. Interior decoration was excellent. Charm colours and antique type furniture combination makes a vibrant look for this gorgeous suite. Outside couch was ideal for relaxing tea over the lake view.
Bathroom is massive and it has a great view of the lake. 2 shower cubicles, Jacuzzi, 01 toilet, 02 vanities, and this comes with full set of amenities.
Restaurant: Fabulous food with real authentic taste. A very good selection. every time we go there we spent lots of time talking to people and most of the time meal hours are over and we were still having meal.
Short walk To Cinnamon Village: Can play on the swing, tree house, and jump on a kayak for a lake tour (at a cost LKR2000 per person).
Pool - It's right next to the restaurant.
Organic farm and butterfly garden: plan a small walk to the organic farm and see the butterflies on the way

The resort is put together beautifully. peaceful and perfectly blended with the natural surroundings. Our water dwelling was just stunning. The attention to detail and the room layout are awesome.
The service was outstanding. A special thank you to Ravindra and Amila, who looked after us throughout our stay. It’s great to have a personal butler, but what made the experience really special was how genuinely they cared about making us feel at home.
The guided tour of Sigiriya Rock and the elephant safari are well-organized, and the naturalists who joined us were knowledgeable and making the trips more than worthwhile. If you’re planning to do these kinds of trips, definitely go with a guide.
The food was another highlight with attention to local dishes as well as international cuisine.

We loved our stay at sigiriya village and would love to come back ! The staff were so welcoming and kind. The room was lovely and spacious, we had a lovely terrace which we sat and watched all the wildlife. The breakfast was great - something for everyone we enjoyed evening cocktails by the pool! I mentioned in passing to someone that it was actually our honeymoon and we came home to a lovely message on our bed! it was all perfect (amazing location too!)

We really enjoyed this place. The view is amazing and all the staff was very, very nice and helpfull. The receptionist helped us with all the trips and transfers. A big plus is that you can take the buffet meal, with all kind of local and international food. And the monkeys...that is a real experience to wake up with the monkeys in your balcony :-) We even had a local wedding, very interesting for us! Thank you guys!

Beautiful place. Isolated from the town but the location is beautiful. You can ride bike around the rice field and lake. If you’re lucky see an elephant.
The woman at the elephant centre was very nice and we learnt a lot! I am glad we stop for a chat.
The diner experience was amazing! We booked the traditional diner with 27 dishes cooked traditionally in clay pot and open fire.
I recommend this hotel!

The whole ambience was lovely from the time of arrival, right throughout our stay with Amaya. Our room and the facilities were very good. We paid b&b only but had dinner buffet each night which gave us plenty of options. We had an extremely good waiter, called Nipun who looked after us. He was so attentive and was extremely good at his job. Overall lovely stay and experience.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven.
We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic!
Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

During my stay, the property owner made several inappropriate and judgmental comments about my affordability and my decision to share meals with my mother, who is disabled. His behaviour was rude and discriminatory.
After I posted my review describing my disappointment, the owner contacted me directly on my personal mobile number using very abusive and offensive language. This message was completely unacceptable and made me feel unsafe.

My experience at Hotel Golden Ray was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect space to relax after exploring Dambulla.

Half a day was enough as the sun was out and draining. At the last stop in Polonnaruwa where you have the temple there was a young man sketching and painting. There was also an older gentleman selling Neem & Jamun tree wood containers and tumblers for keeping water in the night and drinking in the morning Neem for better all over health & Jamun for decreasing blood sugar.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Kandy is a beautiful town with so much to see and do. It’s the perfect central base for exploring nearby highlights like Nuwara Eliya and other major sightseeing spots. The famous Kandy–Ella train ride is a wonderful experience with stunning views. Kandy Lake is lovely for an evening walk, and the local markets — especially the Sunday market — are absolutely worth visiting. The Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) is a must-see; try to go in the evening when it’s cooler and the atmosphere is even more peaceful. Overall, Kandy is a charming town that offers culture, scenery, and convenience all in one.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.
