Everything is so perfectly thought out, the location, design, menu, music, overall vibe. Of course the staff were incredible, so welcoming and attentive. 1. Hotel is fresh and new and of really a good quality. Nothing experienced heavy usage like in Riff - the only real 5* competitor on Hikka beach 2. I got Deluxe suite with Seaview for the price of a regular room cos the hotel just started to work and had not much of guests. 3. Room has excellent sleeping conditions which is rare on Shri: blind curtains & you can sleep with ac on without a risk to catch cold. Priceless.

I had a fantastic 7-day stay at Villa Rumassala—and I loved it so much that I extended my visit by another 10 days. I was based there while completing a medical elective at a nearby hospital, and the villa offered the perfect balance of comfort and tranquillity. Tucked away from the main road, it felt like a peaceful retreat, complete with a serene pool and fresh towels provided daily. The Villas are located about 15 min walk from the main Unawatuna beach and shopping/food area or a short tuktuk ride to Jungle beach (unless you're ok with walking up some steep hills!). The rooms were spacious, exceptionally comfortable, and featured modern, spotless bathrooms. I particularly appreciated the communal kitchen area, which included a kettle and a washing machine—small touches that made a big difference during a longer stay. There was 24/7 security, making me feel safe throughout my stay. There was also a small gym that was open 24/7, however it did not have aircon which might put people off using in the Sri Lankan heat! What truly made my time unforgettable was the staff. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, always making sure I had everything I needed. I was even invited to join in the Sinhala New Year celebrations—a beautiful and memorable experience. A special thank you to Sasini, whose kindness and attention to detail ensured I was comfortable throughout my stay.

I enjoyed lots of things during my stay. Perfect location in a calm place, but close to the beach and surf spot. The rooms are big and very comfortable. The staff of the resort amazed me by their hospitality and welcoming behavior. By the way the food at the restaurant is also really good.

The hotel was right at the surfing beach and they provide surfing lessons as well. The staff was wonderful. They were professional, respectful and easy going. The room was clean, spacious, had a big locker. The bed was comfy but the pillows were too big. The Air-conditioning worked perfectly and we really liked the outside shower too. The interior was minimal but outstanding. We didn't have hotel breakfast but they have a menu and mostly ordered from it. Their cocktails are really good. We could relax at the restaurant overlooking the beach. There are sunbeds at the beach also. We could stay only for two days but wished we could stay longer. I fully enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended.

Outstanding! This beautiful resort is sandwiched between two spectacular (and mostly empty) beaches. If you're looking for a peaceful vibe (no kids allowed and no annoying music at the pool), excellent food, outstanding cocktails, excellent service, and amazing sunsets...then this place is for you. We were very warmly welcomed upon arrival and were looked after with meticulous care for the rest of our stay (thank you very much, Sanath!). The room was perfect and the bed (including linens and pillows) was very comfortable. Thank you also to the very kind and generous Chef Thushara and his team for the wonderful Sri Lankan cooking class (delicious chicken curry). Another highlight of our stay was having our sundowners on a hidden patio perched on the rocks and overlooking the surf. The drinks and the view were spectacular! While you're there, also try the spa. Wonderful massages. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better stay and we look forward to coming back. Thank you, Sandaru, for waking up so early to assist us with our checkout and bid us farewell.

Our experience at Citrus Hikkaduwa was absolutely amazing. It was just me and my best friend on vacation, being both girls travelling by ourselves, we felt extremely safe and the service was exceptional. Everyone was so helpful and polite! We stayed in a sea view double room and the view was just spectacular. The rooms were also very clean and perfect for our vacation. The food was also really good, especially breakfast. We both really loved how they had put a swing right in front of the beach which added to the lovely experience. The bartenders and dinner services were really great as well. Overall the entire experience was just lovely and I would without doubt recommend it to anyone! Being my last trip in Sri Lanka as well I would say it was the best vacation I have ever had so far. Many thanks to the team at Citrus Hikkaduwa!

What an amazing place! it’s location is incredible! When you arrive, you are greeted with a welcome drink, refresher towels and a back and neck massage if the masseuse is free. The service is incredible and you feel immediately like you’re on holiday. Yes, the rooms may seem very old school and not modern but that’s not the look this hotel is going for. They keep the Sri Lankan way of living and style and incorporate it into the rooms. The beds are very comfortable and overall the service is a absolutely fantastic!!!

We had booked the hotel as soon as we saw the display picture of the hotel as we were blown away. The hotel didn’t let us down from its visuals. It was a lovely stay with various facilities. Loved the dinner and breakfast buffet. The food waa very good. The staff were very fast to their service despite the business. Loved the pool and the dedication of the pool staff to keep it clean and well mainted.

The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it...

The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it has a vibe of its own. It’s completely safe at any time of the day, even for solo travelers. There’s so much history within the Fort walls to learn about and beautiful architecture to explore. The hosts at the restaurants and hotels inside the Fort are amazing, and the service is truly of international standard. The view of the Indian Ocean from the Ramparts is simply breathtaking. There are plenty of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and dishes to try. Outside the Fort, I highly recommend visiting the beaches at Unawatuna, just a few kilometers from Galle City Centre. While you’re there, don’t miss the Japanese Peace Pagoda at Rumassala — you won’t regret it! Yaddehimulla Road in Unawatuna has everything from surf schools and restaurants to gem shops, gelato spots, international cuisines, and everything in between. For quick bites and essentials, SPAR Supermarket at Galle City Centre is your go-to place. You’ll find tasty rice and curry meals, ready-to-eat options, mosquito repellent, basic medical supplies, snacks, good-quality fruits, and other everyday necessities.

Its a fantastic place, just at the beach and well planned hotel, pools, beach, restaurants, bars, lobbys are equally catering to customer service points. We had our best hotel experience at Araliya Unawatuna. Even met the owner and had a generous chat during breakfast which is so touching and personalized service standard I believe. Easy to visit Galle Fort, just a walk to the golden sandy beaches. Staff from top management to the ground staff is well trained to give excellent customer care. Ahangama is so peaceful - it's slightly away from the busier areas around the coast. The restaurants around are in great locations, and all very calm with great vibes. It's also very easy and quick to get to neighbouring towns to visit sites, or restaurants in those locations as well.

We did not venture into Bentota.

We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

There are so many locations to see.good peoples are around & very safe are. I like the place & the area.i had great time durig the vacation.I guess that threre is 1km around to the beach & also there is a logoon.i have experience the boat safari at the lake. I wish if i could stay few more days to enjoy.

I recently stayed at La Kurumba for two nights, and everything about the hotel was exceptional! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was absolutely delicious — every meal was a treat. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway.

Great beach, we felt like Robinson Crusoe on the beach,...

Great beach, we felt like Robinson Crusoe on the beach, almost just the 2 of us. Visiting Mahdu Lake at 6 a.m. watching the sun goes up. A natural paradise with a lot of birds and other animals. Listening to their different noises. Dining at the Mangrove Cave Restaurant we enjoyed freshest seafood. It was just very tasty.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.
