Very nice accommodation, clean, with a nice pool. Typical hotel service with restaurant. We only spent one night here so I can't rate everything. The accommodation arranged a Safari in Yala for us, they arranged a nice Jeep for just the two of us ( I said we could take a shared one, but they can't arrange that - or probably don't want to). Anyway, it was nice not to worry about anything, they even packed us a breakfast to take with us on the Safari as it starts at 4:30am so you are the first in the park and have the best chance of seeing the Leopard. Interesting design of the building

The location and the property itself is outstanding. It’s located in a dense jungle area off the normal road but it’s magical once you get there. Hearing the waves crashing all day long along with the birds chirping is so soothing and serene. You literally feel like you’re in a rainforest. The breakfast was good as well, they offer few set menu options which you can choose from.

The best stay we had in Sri Lanka! The room and all the facilities were so comfortable. Room was a bit small but enough to rest, bathroom was enormous and probably the best I've seen in Sri Lanka. The host was very attentive, he welcomed us with fruit from his own garden - lovely!

We absolutely loved it here, we’ve even got a room upgrade when we arrived (thank you!!). Everyone is really nice and the food is just amazing, make sure to get your dinner here. The view to the fields & the lake is absolutely amazing! You can also rent bikes to get to the city.

The location is great, next to a beautiful lake! The host is super nice and took me on a tour to show the surrounding nature, which was stunning! He also picked me up and dropped me off to the busstation and helped me plan a safari! The room is spacious and clean! I really enjoyed my stay here, definitely really good value for money! I highly recommend :)

This was one of the best homestays I have stayed in so far. The helpful and humble attitude of the owners made the stay really special. Their humility and caring nature make you feel a part of family in no time. Rooms are squeaky clean, bathroom and linens are absolutely spotless. The lip-smacking complementary Sri Lankan breakfast was cherry on top. I'm rather sad that I booked the stay for just one day. Definitely coming back to this family again in future.

It was so enjoyable stay in lagoon gate. Caring service by all stuff is on highest level. We will never forget hospitality that we were met late at night when we arrived at the hotel. Speciality of this place is very tasty prawns and seafood that you will never find in tangalle. My very special thanks to Lali and Salinda for satisfying all the requests. My review is based on just one day of stay and everything we had the chance to experience. During our journey of discovering Sri Lanka, I had to choose a hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday, and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort exceeded all my expectations. A special thank you to the wonderful team, and especially to our host Imalka, who went above and beyond to prepare a surprise for my wife – all improvised on the same day. The resort is truly paradise, fully living up to its five-star status, from check-in to check-out, with excellent facilities. The room is spacious, clean, and elegant, surrounded by gardens and offering stunning sea views. The pool is fantastic, with plenty of space to relax. The beach is peaceful and perfect for relaxing, although the sea can be quite rough. However, this is not a problem, as there is a nearby beach where swimming is safer. That beach is also charming, with seaside bars and restaurants. The bar at the Il Mare restaurant offers a happy hour with great drinks, breathtaking views, and a stunning sunset. Dinner at Journeys was the cherry on top – a warm ambiance and exquisitely prepared cuisine. Breakfast was also exceptional. Even though I am familiar with the Anantara brand and have stayed at several of their resorts worldwide, Tangalle Resort managed to surprise us. We even considered staying an extra night, but that would have disrupted our travel plans in Sri Lanka. Without a doubt, this is a hotel to return to for a longer stay. "Palm Paradise" is a very accurate description of this place. Located in a quiet palm grove right next to the beach, very green and quiet (except for the crashing waves - but that's the kind of noise I could listen to all day). Peacocks walking around in the garden and sometimes coming to the pool to drink, all sorts of other birds, squirrels and monkeys can be seen all day round but never cause any trouble. Back in the day they used to have only the minimalistic cabanas (which are great btw), but I was very happy to discover that they have expanded quite a bit since 2010 and now they have the villas, a new restaurant and a pool. The villa where I chose to stay this time was very spacious, air-conditioned and had a large balcony/patio. Both the pool and the beach are less than a minute away. Super-friendly staff, helped me organize the transfer from Ella and then to Colombo for a very reasonable price without requiring any sort of prepayment. The ocean can be a bit rough at times, but that's not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. The restaurant offers excellent quality food, which applies to both the breakfast and the a-la carte dining options. Very clean and warm pool just outside the restaurant with comfortable wooden sunbeds. There's a small grocery store just on the corner of the main road (~5 min walk), and if you need more shopping then Tangalle is only ~10 minutes and ~500LKR away by tuktuk, which can be found just outside the main gate.

My exhilarating trip to Sri Lanka was an incredible experience that will always remain in my memories. The pristine landscapes and beautiful nature of this country captured my heart. However, what made this trip even more special was our stay at Laya hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and also the place was very comfortable and quiet at night. We happened to be there during Sinhala and Tamil new year holiday, and we decided to stay an extra night to celebrate with them. We participated in their games and festivities, and it was a great new experience. We were even honored as special guests on the second night to stay in their brand new caravan. Special thanks to the hotel general manager (Mr.Wasantha) and his deputy (Mr.Dulaj) for their hospitality.

We highly recommend this beautiful place. It truly feels like home, surrounded by a friendly family and their lovely dogs, peacefully located between the river and the sea. The cabin we booked is small and charming, perfectly adequate for the price. The outdoor seating area on the terrace is inviting. Additionally, there is warm water in the shower and a mosquito net at the bed to sleep safe from insects. They are wonderful people with great values, and staying with them is absolutely worth it. We would have stayed longer if we hadn’t had other plans. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Fantastic location, staff, and pool with a view. Sleep to the sound of crickets at night and birds in the morning. The food was amazing. They recommended the local specials, which we relished. Sweet potato fries were amazing. Special thanks to Gumbit(I hope we got his name right). He took good care of us, organized our yala safari, and checked on us often with a warm smile. Our trip would be incomplete without the warm smiles of the staff at gaga bees. We highly recommend this stay

And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Authentic family experience.

Authentic family experience. Two beaches, bird sanctuary and a fishery. Small but beautiful temple. Big rocks for line fishing. Bird watching. Relaxing. You can walk around the village, a couple of little shops. No restaurants as such. I had home cooked food from the main house.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!
