We stayed in Lankavatara 9 days and we had a wonderful and restoring experience. We choose the location because is very quite and immerse in the nature and after 10 days going around the island we needed a break before leaving. What make our stay unforgettable has been also the staff, all are very helpful and professional, from the staff at the reception, the staff at the restaurant, the staff who clean, and the staff at the spa. I will give this a 10/10 out of how much the owner provided for me. The view outside is amazing, just in front of the lake. So peaceful! So the room was okay. But the best thing for me was that the owner provided me a free tour around the place, watching sunset, crocodiles, bats and owls. He also took me to the atm, supermarket, and picked me up from the bus when arriving. Everything for free. And I can also recommend going with the safari that he is providing. That guide was also amazing, experienced, and affordable.

Extremely enthusiastic owner ready to bend over backwards to make the client happy. Able to arrange safari trips, scooter rentals, take you to bus station etc. Excellent home cooked dinner by owner's wife, a true masterchef, food for two could feed six, worth the value of the stay alone. Awesome Welcome & Farewell drinks, take away breakfast ready at 5:30 for our early morning safari trip, couldn't ask for more. Would rate 11 out of 10!!

We just finished our 4-nights stay in the new room in Sea Bay Inn. This was one of the best stays we had in Sri Lanka: - room was very clean, pretty, with a nice smell, nice view - the location was really good - close to a nice beach, some restaurants around, not far from the city center - very nice and big breakfast - the owner is extremely nice and caring - we felt like at home I am sure everybody that will come here will be satisfied with the place and service provided. It was sad to leave this place.

After reading some reviews I was a bit scared about our stay at Leopard Nest. Fortunately unnecessarily. I think the owner of this hotel took all the comments to heart. 1. Right after we arrived the owner explained us everything, especially how to stay safe in the jungle, it was very valuable. We also received a whats up contact in case of any questions or needs. The contact was great and very fast 2. There were at least 4 people from the staff from early morning till late evening. 3. My internet from Sri Lankan mobile has a perfect signal, although I do not expect it in a jungle. There is wi fi at the reception, but I did not check it. 4. Breakfast and dinner are served, everything was delicious and so much that we could not eat it all. The dinner consisted of four courses appetizer, soup, grill and desserts. It was very nice in the middle of the jungle where only torches illuminated us. 5. There is bottled water in the room, and for dinner, if you want something else to drink, you can order it. 6. Additionally, because you have to go on safari very early in the morning, coffee and tea were waiting for us before we left, and we were given a tourist fridge full of sandwiches, eggs, fruit, cookies and water to take on safari. 7. Although the safari was organized by another company, the owner of the hotel asked us for contact to the driver to make sure everything would be on time. 8. The staff is very friendly, and everyone speaks very good English. 9. The air conditioning in the huts works very well. 10. When choosing this hotel, you have to remember that these are jungle huts and not a 5-star luxury hotel, you are close to nature here and in your room you can meet a small friendly lizard, this is an adventure and you have to be ready for it. 10.

We highly recommend this beautiful place. It truly feels like home, surrounded by a friendly family and their lovely dogs, peacefully located between the river and the sea. The cabin we booked is small and charming, perfectly adequate for the price. The outdoor seating area on the terrace is inviting. Additionally, there is warm water in the shower and a mosquito net at the bed to sleep safe from insects. They are wonderful people with great values, and staying with them is absolutely worth it. We would have stayed longer if we hadn’t had other plans. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

We stayed in this hotel for 2 days in October 2023. The hotel is located in the Yala Nature Reserve on the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. The general manager of Colonel proved to be an amazing person. He gave us a real celebration in honor of our wedding anniversary. It was funny and unforgettable. The hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need. The rooms are large and colorful. All with ocean views, comfortable enough. Many thanks to the staff of the entire hotel for their hospitality and attention to our people.

Beach and the pool area are incredible - best I ever saw. Since the location is jungle, there is not much to do besides safari but pool and beach were so amazing that we didnt even look for any other way to spend our time. Elephant on the beach is WOOOW 😍 Staff is wonderful as everywhere in Sri Lanka - always smiling and being very helpful. Rooms are spacious and designed so good with huge comfortable bed. Food also on point.

Fabulous setting. With very friendly staff. With booking.com you get a daily safari included whilst the tour operators often book 2 per day. Be aware if you cancel you loose the tour which we weren’t aware of and as it was raining heavily we cancelled but as weren’t aware of the policy they did reinstate the tour. Food is lovely and don’t miss sundowners on the beach.

Location and view was just marvellous. We got upgraded to VIP suite where we had both pool and lake view. The resort in itself is so beautiful and picturesque that we didn’t feel like leaving. Service is amazing and food is just wow. Local food for breakfast buffet along with English breakfast is available. Everything was just super perfect!!!

Beautiful resort right on Goyambokka beach. We stayed in villa with AC. Kids loved the pool. There are also wild animals like peacocks, squirells, monkeys. All the staff are really nice. Food in restaurant is tasty. They also arranged birthday cake for our daughter on our request.

Lots of gorgeous beaches nearby don’t stay on the main town beach. Take a bus to silent beach / Goyambokka beach / red beach / pallikudwua etc - you could walk from the town to Red beach and Pallikafwua too in 30 minutes Free sunbeds if you eat/ drink at the local beach bars at every beach

It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear
