We really enjoyed our stay here! It was the ideal place to relax and recharge after the buzz of Arugam Bay, and a great base for a day trip to explore Ella. The place was spotlessly clean and super comfortable – we felt right at home. The hosts were so kind and helpful, offering tuk tuk services and even giving us clear pricing for transport andl tours. They also asked us each evening what we’d like for breakfast – such a lovely touch – and it was always fresh and delicious. The facilities were great, the vibe was peaceful, and we couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend if you want something welcoming, clean, and well-run!

Exquisite stay with excellent service. They really give attention to details with compliments to the manager Lucky. The overall feel of the villa is luxury. The online photos already look amazing, but in real life it is even better with a majestic entrance and beautiful lights. They serve great food, I especially loved the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. They even accommodated our driver. The private villa is beautiful with comfortable beds (on second floor), modern bathroom with natural roof light and a cozy living room. We even had the luxury of a private pool, but otherwise there is a lovely common pool. Overall best stay so far in Sri Lanka with excellent service!!

A Wonderful Transformation – A True Hidden Gem! Our stay was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. It's clear the new management has poured love and effort into this place, and it shows everywhere you look. The upgrades are fantastic: a beautiful new swimming pool, a gorgeous new restaurant area, and lovely updates to the rooms and backyard. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and the service was excellent and so attentive. A special thanks to the manager, Anu, who went above and beyond to check on us and attend to all our needs, making us feel incredibly valued. With all the amazing improvements and the incredibly warm service, it truly felt like a second home. We will definitely be coming back again. This place has tuned into a real hidden gem!

It's a very nice place in a slightly isolated area, which we really liked. The building looks beautiful both outside and inside. It's very clean, the rooms are large. The people who manage the place are very kind, they made us a very tasty meal. I recommend this place.

A friendly welcoming smile from the staff when we arrived late after a long day riding scooters in torrential rain. We arrived late and unannounced after the hosts at our other booking cancelled last minute. When he turned up soaked to the bone the staff member ushed out to us and beckoned us immediately to a clean, comfortable room with hot water for a shower and then returned with hot coffees. Faultless service from the team. Thank you. Special mention goes to the delicious chicken curry and coconut roti served for dinner.

This place has been a great discovery on our visit to Sri Lanka, a place to remember. The landscape surrounded by mountains and rice fields, the sunset, the cabins, the very friendly and close staff, Nana (the restaurant manager) and the people who worked with him, the quietness and tranquility of the place. And especially the food, my husband and I are lovers of gastronomy and in this place we have enjoyed flavors, the quality of nearby and local food and a formidable chef. We had a massage at the Spa and it was really good. Although this experience would not have been the same without the attention and care of Saduni, her treatment, help and attention at all times were excellent as well as the ability to solve and manage when we needed it. She has been a great gift.

Tents are spacious and have got fan, sockets, shower and toilet, comfy bed. Staf professional and welcoming. Everything is well organised. Dinner had an amazing atmosphere with candles and campfire - nice meals. There was also a night walk to see some anomal nightlife. Morning safari in the national park and a lovely breakfast. Good experience))

We’re really glad we chose the Mailagama Cinnamon Residence for our stay in Kataragama. The staff treated us with great respect and warm hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the hoppers dinner with its absolutely delicious curries. We must also mention that the curd and honey were the best we’ve ever had.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

Nice place surrounded by beautiful paddy filled, adjacent river was another level experience since it was a perfect place to chill out after incredible tour of elephants and birds watching. We got easy access to one of the Yala gates. Thank for the Sri Lankan authentic breakfast, even host didn't charge for that. All good, highly recommended

The small accommodation is set a nature reserve park, with good mountainous and forestry view. The surrounding area is good for fresh air and for a long walk in a rugged forest area.Make sure wear a suitable hiking shoes.

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike.

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.

Buttala is a beautiful little city close to the northern...

Buttala is a beautiful little city close to the northern part of Yala National Park. If you pass by (maybe on your way to/from the east coast), stop here and enjoy a couple of nights in the local homestays (we can fully recommend Yala Avian Eye Safari!!). Safaris from here are calm and you can enjoy the northern part without hundreds of other jeeps.

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it...

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.
