We had the most wonderful experience at Wild Safari Nest Udawalawe – it truly felt like a little oasis surrounded by coconut and banana trees, offering peace, comfort, and authentic Sri Lankan hospitality.
The outdoor pool was a perfect retreat – clean, inviting, and surrounded by lush greenery, making it ideal for relaxing after a day of adventure.
Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, with high ceilings that gave it a light and airy feel. The bathroom was modern and spotless, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also loved our private balcony with a serene garden view – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature.
One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the incredible food. Breakfast and dinner were freshly prepared by the lovely family who runs the hotel, and everything tasted homemade, authentic, and full of flavor. It felt like dining with family – warm, welcoming, and delicious!
The hotel also organized an amazing safari for us in Udawalawe National Park. Our guide was extremely experienced and knowledgeable, and the whole experience was smooth and unforgettable. We saw so much wildlife and learned so much – it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Add to that the friendly, helpful staff, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable amenities, and it’s safe to say that Wild Safari Nest Udawalawe is a true gem. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with authentic charm and personal hospitality, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

SpainWe absolutely loved staying at Leel's cottage. The welcome by him and his wife was super nice, and the garden on their property looks like the garden of Eden! Especially the walkway to the cottage - WOW! And we were so pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the cottage. It was super clean and nice and the bed very comfortable. And then best of all was Leel. He took us on a 6-hour safari and he was such a great guide. He was very knowledgeable, showing us even the smaller animals that we couldn't see. And we saw so many elephants with him! We also got to talk to him after dinner, and the kind and interesting discussions are some of my favorite memories of our whole trip. If you're looking for where to stay in the area, I would highly recommend Leel's place.

AustraliaWe had a beautiful stay at Amba Kola, a slice of paradise in the Udawalawa jungle. We originally booked for 1 night but as soon as we arrived we were so warmly welcomed and loved the look and feel so much that we extended our stay. Janik and his family were incredible hosts, they treated us like family.
Amba Kola is perfectly located on the edge of the National Park, which made it super easy to access safari tours. Tours are available to book onsite with their recommended tour guide, who we found to be so helpful, spoke very good English, and was amazing at spotting all of the wildlife on safari and relaying information. We saw many elephants as well as peacocks, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, iguanas, and so many different species of birdlife.
Our room at Amba Kola was very relaxing and comfortable, we really loved the extra touch of an outdoor shower.
We had the best food of our whole trip during our stay here, it truly was amazing. Janik’s mother, Mama Swarna, makes beautiful authentic home cooked meals, made from home grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients, and served with love. We have not stoped raving about it yet! Mama Swarna is a top rated cook and also offers traditional cooking classes.
Janik, Greshan, and Sanju were so warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Some of the most generous and happiest people we have met. They went out of their way to show us many of the local sights, and were always checking in on us with a smile to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay.
We loved spending time petting and playing with their lovely dogs and cats, chilling in the beautiful garden, and enjoying a cool beer of an afternoon while playing a game of chess before dinner.
We would not change a thing about our stay, every aspect was tastefully thought out and we enjoyed every moment, but the thing that really stood out and made our experience so special was being treated as part of this beautiful family.

MalaysiaThe staff here are exceptionally good - the whole place is run by a very small team who seem to work very long hours but are always friendly, helpful and smiling. They somehow manage to keep everything spotlessly clean, make delicious food, organise trips and deal with any issues, and still have time for friendly chats with guests. I hope the owners appreciate what a fantastic and hardworking team they are, the hotel wouldn't nearly as good without them.
This is an excellent place to stay for visiting both Udawalawe and Lunugamvehera national parks. We asked the hotel in advance if they could arrange these safaris for us and they sorted it all out at the price I'd have expected to pay. They also arranged for transport between the hotel and both our previous and our next destinations for a reasonable price.
The food here is excellent - make sure you have the curry and rice, and the Sri Lankan breakfast (request them in advance as they need time to make them).
The room was clean and very comfortable, with plenty of space and all the facilities we needed. It has a good view to the back of the hotel where you can see lots of birds, including some resident peacocks. It's very quiet in the rooms, you can't hear any noise from the road and there's good soundproofing between rooms. The small swimming pool was clean and had a few sun loungers around it.

AustraliaThe location is beautiful, gardens are full of fresh fruit which was part of the delicious breakfast, the pool is fantastic, the host was incredibly helpful and made me a packed lunch for the safari which he organised as well as my onward trip to Tangalle, also the dinner was delicious which consisted of different Srilankan curries…so tasty!
My room was really spacious and the bed very comfortable with an amazing rainfall shower in a newly built bathroom.
I spent 3 days here and it was bliss 🌟

The Glenrock was an amazing experience. The location and environment were idyllic with mountains around it and an ever flowing river on the periphery. We spotted large billed birds in the trees, a mongoose, chipmunks and a giant squirrel who visited every morning for bananas. The rooms were large and equipped with all you needed, the bed was very comfortable and WiFi worked in all the rooms.
The staff were amazing always on hand to help delivering ice, drinks and food to our rooms. The breakfasts were out of this world so tasty and so substantial. Dinner in the hotel dining area was so well managed it felt like a fine dining experience with drinks topped up, refills of food and attention to all the details. Compliments to the chefs the food was outstanding.
We were taken to visit the waterfalls and the staff were very attentive insuring our safety at all times. The river in the grounds of the hotel provided us with such a giggle whilst we had "fish therapy", tiny fish nibbling your feet leaving them smooth and refreshed.
We loved our stay here and would like to thank Iresh, Thushara, Duminda and the chefs. We would highly recommend you indulge in this experience

This wasn't our first stay, so we obviouly like this place. The manager Anand couldn't have been kinder. He looked after us like super VIPs. He was everywhere making sure that we were fine. A big thank you to him. We forgot a swim suit and he offered to send it by courier service to our next hotel, which he did. The hotel itself is small and not for everyone. The rooms needs a complete rework - they don't do this place justice. They are in a poor state. But the location is incredible and I hope, this will never change - please never cut ANY of the trees! This is the biggest asset- the jungle and all its noises, the beautiful light filtering through the canopy.

I had such a great experience there. The owner, Sanjaya really was so helpful. If there is any kind of problem, he will help you anytime. The room was comfortable, and nice in size, with a coffee maker and Air Conditioned as well. The bathroom has hot water. The breakfast is awesome, with many varieties of fruits, eggs, and curries. I can't even remember everything I had served on the table. The cherry on the cake, there is the POOL. Nice size, and the perfect temperature. Definitely, I enjoyed being there! The right place to stay in EMBILIPITIYA

We loved this place and found it completely by accident - I am so glad we did! Beautiful scenic views and very delicious food. Dulara Silva was the loveliest man and made our stay so fun. Organised loads of activists for us (trekking, kayaking, zip lining and waterfalls) He made sure we were always smiling. All the staff were incredible- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you!

Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. And another best option is that my friends also went on safari with them so we organized the safari with them. The driver is very friendly and has 10 years of experience. Thank you for everything.

Ratnapura is a fascinating town with few concessions for the western tourist. If you have an interest in the real, gritty Sri Lanka (particularly if the gem industry has appeal) then this town will afford endless stimulation. If, on the other hand you are looking for a holiday resort with restaurants and attractions don't bother - stick to the west coast.

Let me first say how accomodating the staff was. The staff at Glenrock ensured that we were well taken care and went above and beyond with extras to ensure we were happy.
Lodging: The lodging was excellent, I slept very well in their comfortable bed and the ceiling fan with the AC was perfect.
Environment: The area and grounds offer a spectacular view from above and below, we did not want to leave, heard a few monkeys on our roof during the night.
Food: The dinner was good and the breakfast was plentiful, they did not leave our side and ensured the breakfast on the river was done perfectly. They went out of their way to make us happy.
Overall: My team,my wife and I loved "The Glenrock", we will stay again and stay longer next time. Thank you to the entire team

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an interesting trip into real sri lankan life. Cafe's cake shops, restaurants etc - and banks/ATMs - in fact not much that you don't need. A 30mins drive to the beach going south and a 15 in drive to the national park for the elephants. To say nothing of the peacocks constantly gracing Illukawella's gardens.

Amazing experience!
Amazing experience! It's a hidden gem in Sri Lanka and will cater for every type of need. You love nature but dont want to hike, this is the place to go. You want to hike in the Singharaja forest? Well this is the best place to stay. You just want to be with your loved one? Nothing can beat this place. The bunglow itself is an art in the middle of the forest, packed with memories from the past but also with all modern day amenities to make you comfortable. Above all, the staffs are exceptionally good and will ensure you have personalised experience all the time. They will know yoir need even before you notice. I woild like to thank Lasith for his exceptionally hospitality. I have been to many places but never found someone like him.

Nothing much to see in Rakwana town.
Nothing much to see in Rakwana town. But the surrounding mountain areas are breathtaking. Avoid the Rakwana-Deniyaya 10-bends road as it is under heavy construction work and very difficult to travel by a car.

This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka!
It was such a beautiful surprise! Calm area, very nice outdoor setting, the room was very spacious (as was the bathroom!)
So let's talk details:
- Food: Amazing! Home cooked food, with candlelight and the sounds of nature!
- Safari: He was a very good company during my trip! He gave me some tips, was very flexible with my requests.
- Helpfulness: Arranged a taxi to my next destination,
Overall, it was totally worth it, you will really enjoy it! !

We were only passing by for some business matters.
We were only passing by for some business matters. But holiday wise nothing really much to see unless you're an agri culture enthusiast. Pretty close to Udawalawa National Park, so it's a good stop over for someone who wants to do Udawalawa Safari.

Where to start... We had a wonderful stay! Our host Ravidu is a very kind man, he welcomed me and my girlfriend into his family. We will forever be grateful for the special memories created there. His wife cooked us delicious traditional Sri Lankan food at night. Thank you very much ☺️ The bed is extremely comfortable and the room is spacious and very clean. It was nice to have a place to hang out on the terrace. There are many beautiful plants around the property that give it a jungle feel. We saw many tropical birds around.
I 100% recommend booking a safari through Ravidu, he partners with a guide with many years of experience. The safari guide was knowledgeable about the animals and different species we saw on the safari. He was very respectful of the wildlife and drove slowly through the park unlike other jeeps..!!
