This was the best place we stayed in our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Super luxurious room, loads of space, beautiful bathroom. Breakfast served on your own private terrace every morning. Our host couldn't be more helpful. Location is ideal, just a short walk to the beach and the turtles. We did witness the egg laying on the beach. Plenty of restaurants a short walk from the hotel. This place is truly a paradise.

I made a booking here after I have read all the amazing reviews and I’m so glad I did. Nalin is such a nice person and just an amazing host! He contacted us after booking and we always stayed in touch. He was happy to help us with anything we needed and always provided with great tips and info. We were really touched with his hospitality. They cooked a great dinner just was for us that was included in the stay and it was soo good! Their house is beautiful, new, very clean. WiFi worked good. They even met us with welcome drinks and Nalin woke up at 4am to make a tea before our safari. Tissa itself is so beautiful town that is really worth visiting not only for Yala. We wish we could stay longer, we hope to come back again! Thank you very much Nalin 😊

Wonderful 2 days spent at wild culture hotel, room was amazing was with its own lil lounge room with a giant bathroom, food was phenomenal every time we ordered lunch or dinner,lovely pool,activities for kids to interact with if anyone brings theirs along, stuff was very friendly and easy going always there for you when needed our main staff member named Upul looked after us with great respect and warm heart.

Where do I even start? The owner was the nicest host we encountered in Sri Lanka. Forget about eating anywhere but at their house. They prepare the most delicious curry - best we had so far. They breakfast was really good and the portions are very large. The host also organized a safari to Yala park with a very experinced ranger. We even saw a Leopard and a tusker. The host proposed that we go to Kataragama with him for the festival. He arranged the best seats at the festival just for us - free of charge. We met some of the nicest people at the festival, they explained all the history during the festival and tried to please all of our expectations. The location of the house is also at the edge of a very beautiful lake. All in all, you will not be disapointed to book your stay here.

We enjoyed this place! We arrived to Tissamaharama to go to Safari Tour, but we found out that it is such a beautiful area. The accommodation is clean, the room is big, we enjoyed the view, there are also some outside places for sitting. And the host recommended a Safari Tour to us, it was Mango Safari Tour and we loved that too!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes. We stayed in this hotel for 2 days in October 2023. The hotel is located in the Yala Nature Reserve on the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. The general manager of Colonel proved to be an amazing person. He gave us a real celebration in honor of our wedding anniversary. It was funny and unforgettable. The hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need. The rooms are large and colorful. All with ocean views, comfortable enough. Many thanks to the staff of the entire hotel for their hospitality and attention to our people.

Fantastic location, staff, and pool with a view. Sleep to the sound of crickets at night and birds in the morning. The food was amazing. They recommended the local specials, which we relished. Sweet potato fries were amazing. Special thanks to Gumbit(I hope we got his name right). He took good care of us, organized our yala safari, and checked on us often with a warm smile. Our trip would be incomplete without the warm smiles of the staff at gaga bees. We highly recommend this stay

Amazing place and service. The room was beautiful, big and very confortable. Pali, Our guide with whom we did the safari was very nice and had lots of knowledge to share. We learned a lot during the safari with him. The staff were very caring and accomodating on specific diet and dietary requirements and the food was very good. I would definitely go back if I had the chance to travel there again.

Fabulous setting. With very friendly staff. With booking.com you get a daily safari included whilst the tour operators often book 2 per day. Be aware if you cancel you loose the tour which we weren’t aware of and as it was raining heavily we cancelled but as weren’t aware of the policy they did reinstate the tour. Food is lovely and don’t miss sundowners on the beach.

One of the best hotels in Katharagama township. Convenient access to the property from the town and also easy to access, most of the important places from this location. It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear
