Johor: Malaysia's Gateway State

Johor, a Malaysian state and continental Asia’s southernmost point, is often referred to as the southern gateway to its more illustrious powerhouse across the Johor Strait – economic giant Singapore. Used mainly as a transit point, there are some hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Malaysia’s 2nd largest city is vibrant Johor Bahru, also known as JB. Apart from being a processing point for the large numbers of tourists via the Johor-Singapore Causeway, it is also an important industrial and commercial centre and enjoys a lively nightlife scene.

The story gets far more interesting in places like the Endau Rompin National Park where jungle trekking is popular. Indigenous tribes, endangered species and some of Malaysia’s most wonderful waterfalls are part of one of the world’s oldest rainforest regions.

If you are tired of overcrowded beach resorts fretting over the international tourist dollar, then quiet and charming Desaru offers some relief on the east coast of Johor state. There are no roads on the island and the whole area is a marine park with spectacular diving.

Great place for vacation with family. Can access the sea beach from the hotel. No need to go to other place. This hotel has three restaurants in side the property; Chinese, Japanese and standard. Breakfast was quite nice. Big swimming pool is there and have pool bar. Gym is also there. The adventure water park is around 5 km away. If you don’t have car can grab, up-to 6pm getting grab is very fast. Kids playroom is also there. Game room is there. Check in and Check out is very smooth. We enjoyed our stay here. You can choose this hotel for Desaru stay 🎉.

JB has something for everyone and it can be extremely...

JB has something for everyone and it can be extremely fulfilling if you planned it carefully. Shopping is aplenty and it depends on what kind of shopping you want. For mid - high end, go for Mid Valley Southkey. You also can't go wrong with most Aeon Malls for a good variety of shopping and food. I have three boys so our itinerary centred around thrill-seeking: 1. Go-kart at RDU, Sutera Mall. The younger kid had a safe experience, while the older ones + adults got to live our their Fast and Furious dream. 2. ATV Park at Ekoflora (@atvparkjohor on Instagram) was amazing muddy adventure - fair warning: you are bound to get dirty so come with old clothes! For something for everyone, we loved The Hidden Farm at Mount Austin! A petting farm with friendly staff, well maintained space and a good variety to look at including reptiles. My favourite food find this trip were: - The Founders for amazing pizza and cinnamon rolls at MidValley Southkey - Woodfire for burgers - Nasi Kandar Hijrah - Rumah Singgah Roti very near to KSL had wonderful Roti Canai, Roti Sarang Burung with rendang in a quaint setting - Dapo' Khaleeda had great nasi lemak and with delicious ayam goreng and satay. Transportation everywhere was easy with the Grab app and I could easily select for 6 seater car option. They come quick too, so only book one when the group is assembled at the lobby.

Small Town more for Chinese Family as there is a lot of Food options around. You can experience that Coffee area like kampong times Shopping at the Nearby Mail also is a good experience as if you consider the price over here is a bit most Expensive than those in JB As we all know JB price on items is almost comparatively equal to Singapore. 150KM away will enjoy cheaper foods and items and also peaceful.

Food is not good totally . We ordered tomyam n pizza for dinner We can say that the prize for the food was not cheap but the taste was not up to the standard. Even the prawn tasted like “ridsect” the pizza was very tasteless The breakfast was not worth it. Thr team maybe not competent enough to handle such a very big crowd The prize for the room is not cheap either That prize we expect some stars but there is no star can be given to the resort

I frequently travel to Skudai to drop my sister off at UTM, and during our visits, we always enjoy brunch at Chamek Kopitiam, where the food is truly exceptional. You should definitely try their dishes – everything tastes amazing! If you're a shopaholic, I highly recommend spending a couple of days at Paradigm Mall, as it offers a wide range of stores to explore.

I spent 4 Days here and even without visiting the Tourist Attractions like Putuo Village, Gunung Pulai or Kulai Monkey Mountain, I still enjoyed myself with all the Foods available. Nice place. Good durians and fruits.

Nice place. Good durians and fruits. The food is authentic and tasty. Kluang rail coffee restaurant is nice. The toast all are very good. Also the neighborhood several small shops which sell good items. My wife enjoy the shopping of RM2.40 items in ECO shop. Overall nice place.

Many restaurants available nearby hotel, so the traveller guest can select the place according to his/her individual choice of food. I generally used to eat at restaurant OSMAN OR restaurant HABIB. Try to have some Food/Beverage at Restoran BANAFEE Seri Alam near TODAY's mall. One can buy fresh fruits and other necessary shopping at TODAY's mall nearby. Pharmacy shops are available nearby in walking distance, which is very good. Possible for the travellers to connect to other cities in Malaysia from TBPG (Terminal Bas Pasir Gudang).

Johor around a shopping center with a cinema is always worth it. In the case of KSL, this specifically caters for people who are looking for massage, getting their nails or hair done and eating. Bonus is that they have a cinema here.
