GermanySuper modern and really beautiful motel/apartments with all the appliances you could need! The room was really nice and spacious, the bathroom was clean and nicely done. We loved our stay here, the owner was really lovely and helped us with everything we needed. There was definetly enough parking space and the location was a great gateway for Mt Cook. 11/10 experience.

SlovakiaPerfect room in a perfect place! The room is large with super comfortable bed, bathroom is also quite large, everything is clean. When you walk out of the room outside, you get an incredible view of the mountains.
In the morning you can make breakfast, kitchen is well equipped and has everything.
And as bonus, Mary, the host, is super nice!

The reason I rate 10 is I'm not allowed to rate any higher.
Exceptional. We only stayed for one night but it became the best experience of the whole trip.
We were the only guests in that night. Mr. Huge greeted us by the mainroad. We did reserve a dinner but I never expected it was so good! I'm missing the wine and food and the lovely conversation in that night already. The breakfast was great too! Even better than some 5-star hotel in my opinion... Still the best part is Mr. Huge's hospitality.
Room was perfect. Facilities were great. Location is perfect! Ohau is indeed a remote place, the house is 200 meters outside the village but just perfect in my opinion. 1 minute walk to the lake.
The house does have a touching history. All the best wishes to you and the house Mr.Hugh.

Our stay exceeded all expectations. The staff were very kind and responsive to our messages, since we needed to change rooms, and they were extremely quick and helpful in arranging it. The motel room was very spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains but, above all, it was spotless and warm. It had everything we could possibly need: in the bathroom there were shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and in the kitchen there was a kind of electric pot for cooking, a toaster, an air fryer, and a kettle. If you prefer real stovetops, you can also use the shared kitchen in the campground, just ask for a cooking kit at the reception.

Staff were great, couldn't be more accommodating! Always making sure you were quite happy.
Location, scenery perfect!
Very Relaxed ! quiet, you could do whatever - walking, reading, massages on site, great meals.

Didn’t do much in Twizel itself as it was for us just a stopover on a long roadie, and we had been in the area before. But there is heaps to do and see within a short drive. We had our own food with us so didn’t eat out. The camp kitchen was great.

We lived in Omarama approximately 30 years ago. It was lovely to see the progress in the town. There is plenty of places to eat out and all of them offer a good range of food, with friendly efficient staff.

A discovery really, as it was the most convenient place for a break in our journey but what a wonderful central location it turned out to be to see many surrounding wonders. Each season would have its own reasons for spending time here, which is exactly what I now intend to do.

My wife and I really cannot rave about this retreat enough. The villas are exceptionally appointed and spacious. The environment is picturesque, tranquil and peaceful. The food provided in the villas and the meals cooked by the chef are truly delicious and guests individual tastes are catered for. The staff are very welcoming and friendly whilst ensuring that privacy is a key component of the experience. The villas could not be cleaner or more tastefully presented. We doubt anyone could be disappointed in their stay at this retreat.

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now.
My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography.
We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos.
Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them.
We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our
stay in Twizel.

Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic...
Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc.
It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.

I didn’t see much of Otematata as I arrived late afternoon,...
I didn’t see much of Otematata as I arrived late afternoon, had a meal and then retired to my room. The next day we drove on to Geraldine early morning. The countryside is interesting, the views superb, I love the McKenzie country and I’ll return for longer next time.
I ate at the Best little pub and had a very good meal

Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery.
Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery. The town itself is very small, but offers so much with scenic walks, activities & the locals are super friendly.
We had dinner at the Razza Bar - a small, old school bar with the best atmosphere & great food.
The owner was really friendly and told us all about the lord of the rings filming and where we could find the area where the fight scene was filmed which was very cool.
Beautiful place & we can’t wait to come back

Great little settlement - the Clay Cliffs were spectacular and a definite must-see. The Hot Tubs were so lovely afterwards - very private and in a peaceful outdoor setting. Absolutely loved them. Had a meal at the local pub which was also very good.

The apartment was very clean and had everything that we needed. The pub was brilliant and had exceptional food and a great atmosphere. Previous negative reviews of the apartments were completely unfounded. Sofa bed was lumpy with springs sticking out and needs replacing, otherwise no complaints. Would stay there again.
