The entire facility and the room were a dream. It was enchantingly beautiful. Francisco personally greeted us and showed everything, as well as provided tips. He and his staff are incredibly friendly and personable; everything feels very familial. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. The facility is very well maintained. The view of the sea (including from the pool) is breathtaking. The breakfast is very tasty and offers a diverse selection. Some items are homemade, using the delicious fruits from their own garden. For those who get thirsty for wine or beer, or fancy some snacks in the evening, these can be purchased in the breakfast room (self-service, documentation on paper). If the weather isn't good, you can make yourself comfortable in the common room. (including a terrace, books, musical instruments, etc.) Parking is available on the premises.
We would have loved to stay longer and can highly recommend this accommodation. If we ever find our way back to the Azores and the island, we will definitely return. Thank you for everything! :-)

Had an amazing stay. Not only are the rooms super comfortable and clean, the view of the ocean is amazing, the breakfast is lovely and the hosts are super nice! They have farmland, where they grow organic products and also a huuge and beautiful garden, which is just out of this world. Even a tunnel, which ends by the shore. The landing strip of the airport is very close by but it is not loud at all, since the airport is not very busy. It's rather entertaining watching the planes.
Would visit Faial again just to spend more time at this place.

Nuno welcomed us very warmly, he showed us all the facilities in the house, and there was even a small welcome gift that made our early arrival better. The house is very well equipped, we even had barbecue and fireplace for us to use. We'll definitely come back to Casa do Capelo and we warmly recommend it to our friends.

Outstanding! Loved this place from the moment we arrived! Nothing I would change. The yurt was everything we wanted and more. The breakfast was fabulous and the surroundings were perfect. If I could give 11 out of 10 we would! We will be back.

If you are a horse lover like myself you will love this place to get away and enjoy its natural surroundings and enjoyment of having the peace and lodge surroundings.To beable to interact with friendly horses was amazing.I will defo be back 😊

Our room was great and was cleaned well every day and the staff was super friendly. Also the breakfast (for us a freshly squeezed orange juice, a coffee, a sandwich and one of the cakes/sweets) was very good. We felt very comfortable!🙂

Horta is a fabulous town, friendly people, nice restaurants and pedarias and shops in and around the Main Street
Our favorite place to eat was a fab resteraunt overlooking the ocean Praia do a Almoxarife. Lovely harbor with interesting paintings from passing sailors.
Porto Pim Beach close by.
Probably best to get a hire car to see all the lovely spots around the island (quite expensive) although the local buses are pretty good too. Plenty of walking/hiking trails especially the walk around the rim of Caldeira e Capelinhos. Lots of amazing view points and botanical gardens

My stay there was great, I especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The place is perfect if you have to catch a morning flight since it is just opposite the airport, also bus station is just across the street. However, it is not very easily accessible from Horta if you don't have your car; the public transport by bus is limited on weekends, even during the week the bus rides only few times a day, Besides one restaurant 1km away, there are also no other places to eat nearby. But the nature around is amazing and place is very nice, the rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast is good.

Loved that the host provided some basic supplies - coffee, milk, fresh eggs, homemade jam, olive oil. The hot water was plentiful. It was great to have a washing machine. But the view is the best selling point!

We went on a full day tour of Faial with Andre at Visitfaial. This let us see all the sites. Faial is a beautiful island and I wish we had more time there. Horta is more of a town than a city, size wise. It has a big marina and this was buzzing with lots to look at including some big yachts. There are some busy bars and restaurants which are fun to visit although we preferred the quieter ones in Porto Pim Bay Area. Genuino has lots of memorabilia from the owner’s sailing adventures. The tuna steaks were massive. We had a table upstairs at window with lovely views across the bay. Taberna de Pim was also good and we were able to eat outside on the bay.

We loved Varadouro.
We loved Varadouro. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer to relax by the pools and swimming inlet. These swimming areas are located amongst the volcanic rock and are just amazing.
The area is very relaxing, the sea could be heard from our accommodation. We had a hire car, which is needed as the area is remote.
There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby.

What I love about Horta is that you feel like you are...
What I love about Horta is that you feel like you are entering an entirely different culture and way of living. I do not like traveling to areas where I feel it is American culture in a foreign place. If I go again I would definitely make more of an effort in learning the language enough to carry on small conversations. Breakfast was a culture shock for me. I am used to protein shakes and toast in the morning. They do not eat breakfast that way. There was only one place that served omlettes or eggs but even there it was not close enough to an American breakfast. Lunch and dinner were fine. If you will be there for a week or more I highly suggest you go to the grocery store for breakfast items like milk, cereal, bread etc. The pastries at the various bakeries are to die for. I have put on weight despite heavy walking.
