Pico Vineyard exceeded every expectation! From the moment we arrived, the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warmth and professionalism. Every interaction was pleasant and thoughtful. Our room was absolutely perfect: spacious, beautifully appointed, and spotlessly clean. It struck the ideal balance between comfort and elegance, with lovely touches that made our stay feel special. The facilities throughout the hotel were equally impressive—modern, well-maintained, and immaculately clean.

So much more than a hostel: a real family homestay experience, with a hug! Stefano and Pedro are wonderful hosts, I feel sheepish about not spending enough time in the garden relaxing and conversing - was too busy running around the island! The hostel is on a quiet street in the centre of Madalena, with stunning views over the Pico mountain. Rooms are spacious, each bed is curtained off for privacy, equipped with a power socket, a lamp and a fan, nice firm mattress. All communal areas are clean, and the garden is just awesome! You get a choice of cats to cuddle, and a dog :) The shared kitchen has everything you need for cooking or storing food items. Also, if you have an early start - like, climbing the mountain,- you can have tea, cereal, yoghurt and jam on toast - before the official breakfast time, just tidy up after yourself - but you'll miss the pancakes..... Definitely a hostel-home experience that I recommend and that is firmly on my re-visit bucket list!

Jose is a very kind and responsive host. Jose responded back to every little concern and questions that we had in a quick manner. Jose provided us with a welcome basket which had cake, bread, local jam, honey and wine which we thought was a wonderful gesture. Jose was kind enough to let us check in early and check out late as our flights were at odd times which we appreciate a lot. The place was very clean and close to supermarket. There were wonderful views of Pico Mountain and ocean from the balcony upstairs. Place had everything that we needed to cook our own meals including Salt, Sugar, Tea bags, Coffee and Oil. The place was quiet and peaceful. It is a bit far from city center so you need a car to get around. Accommodation even has English TV channels which are a bonus when you cannot go out because of heavy rains which happened to us on the day we were leaving Pico. Jose left us some brochures with local restaurant recommendations in the kitchen as well as brochures for companies that provide whale watching tours which was a nice gesture. Jose has thought of everything to make the place feel like a second home. Overall we had a wonderful time at Jose's place.

We loved this place, very close to Madeleine, about 8 mins by car. The chalets are beautiful, well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable. You can really relax in this hotel. In the complex you get a beautiful view of Pico and Faial, so we took some pictures of the sunset. The staff were very friendly and we were able to communicate with them without a problem before our arrival. The room included a basket for breakfast, which was a very nice detail how it was presented. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed only one night but I suggest to stay at least two to really enjoy the place and relax in Pico.

The view , the space in the house, the swimming pool, silence, everything that we need was at house - towels, hair dryer, soap , washing liquid, even coffee.. we didn't expect that the house is so huge, on the second floor 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms plus sofa downstairs, huge space in the kitchen, living room with 2 tables , toilet downstairs, outside sun beds.. blankets if needed, an extra bed with a mattress if needed, a clothes dryer, a dishwasher, but still the most what we loved was the view on the ocean 🐳 wish to be back there , beautiful 😍

Sao was such a wonderful hostess!! So kind and helpful. The breakfast served here was fantastic, the room perfect for our needs and the balcony so beautiful!! Lajes was an excellent location for us, we loved the pastry shop and restaurant just up the street. Quiet but neighborly, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else on the island! Highly recommend renting a car and taking advantage of the ocean swimming holes! Sao Roque had the best one. And the bar Cella Bar near the capital has a gorgeous view!

I went there to scuba dive and Madelena is a perfect location between two excellent Dive Shops: CWAzores and Twin Peaks. I recommend O Cinco for food. Madalena is a perfect location to stage a vacation to have access to all the other towns, museums and activities.

São Roque is very spread out, so a car is needed if you stay outside the heart of the village. Most restaurants were closed, so dining out was tricky (end of March). It is worth staying in a self catering place when going off season. The minimarket by the fire-station is well stocked. Safe swimming spot at the Naval Club. Close to hiking trails.

A nice little town with several good restaurants.

A nice little town with several good restaurants. We visited in September and some restaurants were closed so we needed to book some of the more popular ones. Whaling museum interesting to understand previous culture and history of the Azores. Supermarket and a few small shops. We used this as our base. The roads on the whole were good between Lajes and other places of interest. There is a little windmill which is very picturesque especially at night when it is lit up. Lovely sunsets.

Quiet place.

Quiet place. Only one restaurant open starting 7pm, 2 small shops and 1 bar. No no tourist attractions. Perfect if you looking place for silence and rest and you are ready to drive to see something interesting or to go to restaurant. Recommended is to have car -- buses are not real option.

You just can´t go wrong!

You just can´t go wrong! When on the island it one of the most balanced and coziest places to stay. The food is home made like grandma quality with a morden twist. It’s my preferred spot with the best meat and the freshest fish and the best azorean secret “Lapas”. The wow factor is there. i’ve just come back!

Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in.

Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in. You can book acitivities with agencies near the port. There are a couple of really good restaurants. Pico wine is amazing! During my stay in Pico (may) the weather was extremely changing and it was very hard to plan activities such a hiking Mt. Pico that depends on the weather. The temperature could feel like 30c while it was sunny and felt like 10c when cloudy and rainy. The same goes for the wind. Averall worth the experience tho. :)

Highly recommended If you can secure the separate apartment in this delightful complex of clever conversions then you'll get a better view than from the ground floor apartment we had ( which was still very good ) - worth asking the host about which properties are available for your stay and ascertaining the views

Here you can experience the wilder remoter part of Pico Island. I walked along the marked trails about 10km to the Miradouro de Alto de Cedros, finding some woodland trails on the steep hillside. If I'd had another day I'd have taken the bus to Piedade and walked back along the coast. Praia itself was quiet, with walks to the beach, a handy local shop and passing buses.
