Everything! From the excellent and detailed wine tasting, the views of the property, the infinity swimming pool with sunset view, the dinner and breakfast service, the painting with wine in their little garden, it was all beyond perfect. Highly recommend Ventozelo hotel and quinta for the best Duoro experience!! Perfect for couples and small groups. We couldn't hike as we were tired but this property has multiple mapped hikes which one can do as an activity.

The renovated building was lovely.certainly the best Ibis we have stayed in anywhere. Central location easy parking on street. Staff were excellent. We completed a 6 day drive on the N2 road from Faro to Chaves and decided we needed 2 nights to relax. This hotel is amazing value and this ancient Roman spa town was worth staying in for sure.Be sure to check out the archaeological dig site in the town museum.

Beautiful place if you are traveling in north Portugal and the huge plus is the 3 minutes walk from the hotel to the adventure park. Hotel is lovely with an amazing outdoor pool, great service, option for a chef dinner that we enjoyed. we took the suite room and the only issue with that is the bed, which was too soft for us and not really comfortable. Area is so green and great for hiking.

Wow, what a find! Beautifully appointed room, lovely staff and a special mention of the amazing breakfast. We couldn't believe the choice for such a fair price. Free off street parking was a bonus. We did drive into the old town as it is a bit of a walk but you could do it, lovely area to walk around with heaps of restaurants and bars. Laundromat just around the corner in case that's important to you (we needed it!)

I love Chaves, small ancient town which has a river going through it with its own Roman bridge going across it… wonderful restaurants, the food is amazing here in the north of Portugal! Amazing places to stay with fabulous Portuguese restaurants! You’re also close to one of the nicest wine regions in the world! If you drive go trough Régua up the Douro where the grapes are grown! Unbelievable gorgeous, truly stunning

Bustling city with plenty of cafes and eateries, slightly off the usual tourist trail. The Castelo de Braganca was well worth a visit. We thought the prices in the city were very reasonable. Watch out if you are using an old satnav - we were directed up a very steep, narrow street which turned out to be a dead end. The reversing down the cobbles and a 37-point turn were a challenge!

Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available,...

Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

I made a mistake when booking one night at this property and...

I made a mistake when booking one night at this property and tried many times to contact them, but it was impossible. Every message gets an automated reply from a virtual assistant, and phone calls go straight to voicemail. Communication is terrible! We couldn’t reach anyone, didn’t stay at the property, and still had to pay. Even when I emailed to say we weren’t coming, the only reply was an automatic check-in message. If you ever need help or have a problem, there seems to be no real person to talk to. Very frustrating — be careful when booking!

The little village is very small - very few stores and...

The little village is very small - very few stores and restaurants. A few wineries there for tastings. Need a car to be able to drive to the wineries at the top of the surrounding hills and even 30 minutes away. Taxis are very expensive. Driving can be harrowing on the steep hills and extremely narrow roads. It's a good place to go to launch yourself to wine tastings in the region. It's not a place to bring children. We enjoyed dinner family style at our Casa. We LOVED going to Wine and Soul - where they still stomp their grapes. Outstanding ports and wines.

Ribeira da Pena is a very quiet city, in which we can relax. We also have a park for extreme activities, which I thought was excellent. And there is plenty of nature for those who like hiking or sports.

This is a great place to spend the best time in the Douro Valley and enjoy the surroundings with the best views, terrace vineyards and wineries. The outdoor pool attracts you even more, especially if you have a teenager who wants to spend time around the pool / beach.

Interesting town divided by a scenic river. Seems to be a nut capital with bulk walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts for sale everywhere. Many reasonable restaurants, but breakfast options limited. Good shopping and pedestrian streets, all within walking distance.

The bridge that dates from Roman times and is normally shown...

The bridge that dates from Roman times and is normally shown in photos is the interesting bit of Chaves. The rest is tired and seems to have suffered economically. The last place we stayed was Guimares. I'd stay 2 days there and not stay in Chaves next time. That said, apparently there are quite a lot of historical Catholic things here, but not my scene at all.
