We stayed at this pension as two families with six small children, and it was absolutely perfect for us. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, and the shared areas were extremely convenient – from the well-equipped kitchen to the cozy playroom indoors, and especially the large outdoor play area where the kids could run and enjoy themselves safely.
Dinner at the pension was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations. The view from the property was stunning, and the location is ideal for exploring the High Tatras, with easy access to many hiking trails and attractions. Above all, the hosts were outstanding – warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend this place for families visiting the area.

We had a brilliant stay. The hotel was lovely, comfortable rooms, relaxing wellness area. But the best thing was the amazing lady at reception - we came without a car not releasing you really need one to get around. She gave us great tips to explore the local area, helped with transportation and was overall so genuinely kind and helpful - she made our stay so much more enjoyable, thank you.

I liked the most hospitality and accomodation.
I liked the most hospitality and accomodation. I dislike that in this the time there were some Gorals days and it wasn’t possible go to the “cloud pavement” without buying an expensive ticket for this event. So my hiking up was useless.

Rafting the river and hiking up to the top of the Three...
Rafting the river and hiking up to the top of the Three Crowns was fantastic as well as walking the developed trail along the Dunajec River. Rafting the river is unique and a "must do". The river trail however can be quite crowded especially for bicycle riders. Unfortunately, I could not find a good food store in the town but did find a small shop close to the Catholic Church on the other side of the river in Poland. Finally, touring the Monastery itself was inspirational, beautiful and educational. A great place to visit!

Zdiar is a quiet town that we used as a starting point for trails both around it and in nearby Poland. We were in the off-season, I think in winter it is different - lots of slopes nearby
We ate at a different restaurant every day. Very happy with the food and the kindness of the staff.

A beautiful location with only a handful of accommodation...
A beautiful location with only a handful of accommodation options for tourists so it hasn't got any of the 'visual clutter' advertising various things, associated with more touristy places. The surroundings of Matiasovce are well worth exploring, we were blown away by the walk from saddle on the road to Velka Frankova back to Matiasovce; incredible panoramic views of Belianske/Vysoke Tatry and not another soul in sight. The village has two shops which between the two of them are open from morning until the evening. It is on a bus route too, which came handy when we had unexpected issues with the car. Tulipub serves tasty pizzas and, to our delight, also kofola on a tap.

My favorite was hiking around with my dog, we mostly went to Strednica. The restaurants are good (my favorite was Zdiaranka and Stone Art Gallery café to enjoy the view and have good coffee or a glass of wine), there are several shops to buy food as well. I visited the local museum. I recommend going to Tree Top Walk in Bachledova Dolina, very interesting place.

Zdiar is a beautiful town, perfect for skiing, hiking and relaxing! It has everything you need, the people are very friendly and helpful although it would be a good idea to learn some basic Slovak just to get you by. Waking up in the high tatras mountains in a sight to behold! Numerous restaurants line the main street and there is an amazing pizza restaurant that sells great drinks too, looks like a museum inside wall to wall with Slovakia history gathered by the owner it is called Pizzeria Rustika. I would highly recommend a visit.
