Budget hotel in the center of chaweng beach with direct beach access via the partnering Chaweng Garden Beach Resort, which offers very nice beach and pool facilities. These can be used by J4-guests and gives great value. The area is very well-maintained, clean and staff super friendly and helpful. The beach is probably the nicest of Ko Samui, bright fine sand. Lots of restaurants, bars, shopping center are in walking distance. The ARKbar Beach Club is next door. Please be aware of expecting street noise and music till late in the night. Some standard rooms are close to the side of the street or ARKbar, comfort garden rooms are little smaller, but seem to be more quiet. I chose the comfort garden room and I loved it with garden view and very little noises, so I could sleep very well every night without any disturbance or ear plugs. I paid 30€/night and in my case overall it was great value for money.

When booking at Anantara, we had high expectations, as one would for a five-star hotel. Thankfully, many aspects of our stay lived up to those expectations, and some even exceeded them. Arrival & Check-In: We were warmly welcomed by the soft-spoken and friendly staff, who offered us a comfortable place to sit and provided cold refreshments while we checked in. This was a wonderful first impression. Jenine, who assisted us, escorted us to our room with professionalism and care. Initial Room Experience: While settling into our room, I noticed a malfunction with the mosquito plug, which suddenly blew up. This incident understandably made me apprehensive about staying in the room. Thankfully, Jenine handled the situation with composure, promptly informing the management and ensuring the room was made unavailable for thorough inspection. She quickly arranged for a new room, making us feel reassured and cared for during what could have been a stressful situation. Service Excellence: The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Jenine went above and beyond, guiding us to restaurants, coordinating laundry requests, and organizing our airport shuttle. A special shoutout goes to Joy and the executive chef, who truly amazed us with their thoughtfulness. For our early morning flight, I requested a simple mango sticky rice and cappuccino as a to-go meal. To my surprise, they prepared four thoughtfully curated breakfast boxes, including my favorite Thai dishes like massaman curry and plain fried rice. This level of care and attention was far beyond what I expected. The crew near the beach also stood out for their approachability and attentiveness to guests’ needs, adding to the overall sense of hospitality. Similarly, the breakfast service team provided exceptional service, with Mint and Chiui standing out for their attentiveness and efficiency. The breakfast buffet itself deserves praise.

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of magical! The moment I stepped onto the property, I felt like I had entered paradise. Every member of the team was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and collaborative. They made sure that all my needs were met and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The last time I stayed at this hotel was in 2017. Since then, the hotel has improved significantly. Both the rooms and the pool area have become very beautiful. There's nothing to complain about when it comes to the hotel's location, right in the busiest part of Chaweng. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and spotlessly clean. Spending time by the pool during the day is a lot of fun. All the staff members are very friendly and attentive. The beach parties in the evenings create an incredible atmosphere. Whenever I come to Koh Samui, I always stay at this hotel, and I have never been disappointed.

I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights at the end of May 2023 and everything went perfectly. All the staff is super helpful, especially May at the reception desk and Jack at the breakfast. Breakfast is complete and various. All the accommodation are in pristine condition and the all hotel is super clean. The fitness room with the A/C is a great plus.

I read a lot of reviews about the amazing beaches of Koh Samui. I tried many of them and I can tell with confidence that Chaweng was the best by miles. I was based in Chaweng and I though to check the other beaches. I walked all over Lamai, which is very panoramic, but there is a constant stink wherever you go and the beach inside has a lot of corals/rocks that will probably hurt your feet. Crystal Bay was tiny, not comfortable because of the corals and overcrowded. I didnt see Fisherman Village beach while the others on the east side looked dirty. Choose Chaweng

Chaweng Noi Beach was one of my favorite spots on Koh Samui. It’s incredibly beautiful — soft white sand, calm turquoise water, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels like a little escape from the busier parts of the island. I loved how quiet and relaxed it was, perfect for swimming or just lying under the sun. The view with the green hills around was stunning. That said, it’s not the best during low tide — the rocks and coral can make it tricky to get in the water. Also, there’s not much going on nearby in terms of shops or nightlife, and some areas can get a bit pricey because of the luxury resorts. Still, for a calm beach day with amazing views, I’d go back in a heartbeat.

I am astounded that more British people, especially families...

I am astounded that more British people, especially families, don't take family holidays in Chaweng. It has everything, and it is so cheap compared to Spain or the Caribbean. I think maybe people think Thailand isn't safe? Nonsense, if so. It feels like the safest place I've ever been.

I wouldn't go back. I was so disappointed by Koh Samui, I thought it was a nice place to go but aside from beautiful beaches and the views from the mountains, its really rough and run down. Chaweng itself is like Magaluf. The strip is awful. But if you like that then you'd probably like it but not being a drinker or a partier I really hated it. We did however eat at some really great restaurants all over Koh Samui

I have been to 4 Thai seaside resorts so I know a little about them. Koh Samui seems to lack a spirit of 'self' - the tours available go to natural sites which are average. And expensive. I didn't see any cultural tours. I saw hundreds of massage parlours, weed shops, and cafes. The whole place seems to be a fisherman's village that has been pumped up by advertising and wasn't really ready for it. I would really avoid this place in the high season. On the other hand if you just want to sit in a resort next to a beach and eat and drink, this could be for you. Long way to go though...

It is beautiful, wonderful, crystal clear, turquoise water. Do NOT let the reviews that say that this beach is "busy, loud, too crowded" deter you from coming. We were here in January-February during peak season and it was perfect! Never too crowded and never too empty. Perfect in my experience, I would come back. I did not prefer nor enjoy Lamai beach (supposed to be better, but I disagree).
