We explored Paje, Mtende, Kizimkazi, Kendwa and even the famous Nakupenda sandbank, and while each had its charm, nothing compared to the beauty right outside our resort. Our stretch of beach felt like our own private paradise, complete with its own natural sandbank and not a single crowd in sight. It was perfect. The staff and Maasai security around the hotel make the difference in your stay. This is a place we want our family and friends to experience over and over again. Our hearts are so full from the amazing experience we got to have for the 8 nights we stayed here. We are just simply blown away. Having travelled all over the world, this place now sits at the top of our best holiday experiences. Asante sana! tuonane hivi karibuni!
We have managed to come away with some amazing moments and memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The place is stunning, with the sunrise in the morning making you think, “Why can’t I have this all the time?” That thought just carries on throughout the day whilst having your breakfast as you look across the sea, quietly smiling inside about the experience and feeling.
This continues in the afternoon when low tide arrives and the water recedes far from the shore, exposing the seabed and starfish. Our time here was not only enhanced by this experience, it was amplified by the quality of the people we met, and the joy they infused into our days. They were just wonderful.
So to: Alice, Canny, Antony, Sulemani, Mina, Godfrey, Sagida, Rahema, Chen, Bashari,Ikram, Fatma, Esther! Thank you.

AustraliaThe entire property is really well laid out, with trees around the pool that give it a really warm and intimate feeling but also provide much-needed shade if you burn easily like I do. The food area and swing seats are inviting and relaxing, so it's a real oasis. The rooms are light and comfortable with good air conditioning. They are also remarkably sound proof, with some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in in Tanzania. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, and I love the resident kittens they have taken in. The food was good and breakfast was filling and tasty. It's well located in that the beach and shops are in very easy walking distance, but it isn't impacted by the hustle and bustle or the noise that is common in other venues. A really delightful find, we will certainly be back!

Since we traveled during the low season, we were kindly offered an upgrade to the Ocean Room — and we loved it! A unique TUI BLUE experience
TUI BLUE Zanzibar is a slice of paradise! The stunning views and relaxed vibe greet you, setting the stage for an unforgettable and long week getaway (with a little bit of work 😊). The resort is absolutely lush, well kept, and beautiful with picturesque photo opportunities all around, especially at the beach. Our room was amazing, very cleaned, spacious and comfortable with a stunning ocean view and totally faultless.
The staff are incredibly friendly, always ready with a smile. Their warm hospitality enhances the experience. The seafood at Breeze restaurant is a highlight, fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The international buffet dinner around the pool and the Swahili night at the beach with a Massai performance are a must to attend. A special shout-out to the Executive Chef Ali and his team for creating such memorable meals, during our entire stay. The resort offers multiple restaurants to enjoy with different thematic (Italian, Seafood, BBQ and Asian).
We want to acknowledge a few super stars who made our stay extra enjoyable. Thank you to Clara, our adorable waitress who always took care of us with a smile and colorful eyeshadow 😊. She is so nice and felt like family by the time we left. Thank you to Hassan the fantastic Food and Beverage manager who made sure that we were very well looked after. He got his department fully under control and was present morning to night to be sure his guests are well taken care of. Finally, I want to personally thank the General Manager Mr. Javier and his management team. If the guest experience feels so enjoyable is also due to his leader who in the shadow of the actions makes sure the property is well run. Bravo!

This was bigger than my expectations since I've red really exaggerated and false comments previous to my arrival.
First of all, the room is absolutely perfect with a staff that find very creative way everyday to make you feel good in your room. Perfectly clean and spacious room and bathroom, no problems ever ( that was written) of shower or anything. Not a SINGLE mosquito or insect in the room because of the air conditioning and the cleaning, fridge full of drinks everyday, champagne brought and special attention for my birthday without even telling them !
Incredible staff, kind, smiling, I've never seen such professional and nice people ( Fatima, Paulina, Abu, Cristina, Brenda and so many more), one of the main reason among all others, that our stay was very good ! Pool is incredible, the place is incredible ( beautiful gardens well maintained with flowers and trees), beach is incredible. Yes people come talk to you on the beach, it is a poor country, they try to make money, we are in their country spending our best holidays so instead of complaining, by them something :)
Food was good, the main restaurant Promenade was good, lot of choice, quality, creativity, and never boring. You have other restaurants you need to book in advanced. Once you arrive, do so immediately otherwise you won't be able to go as they are only few spots. Krystal restaurant was really really good !

Beautiful Beach, Breakfast is really good with a varieties and different choices every morning and also flexible to have what you want...especially that we had young children. Dinner is also a wide range of cuisine to choose from and different every night...! The food is just fantastic...! The front desk staff...Khalid and Flora are very professional and would do anything to accommodate your needs, the restaurant and kitchen staff are extremely nice and very friendly...Our three Boys really enjoyed the attention from all the staff. The Hotel Manager very helpful and not forgetting Big Ben...very professional and very helpful and both Manager and Big Ben made sure we had everything we requested...! Thank you ALL...!

We stayed in a villa with a stunning sea view and a private pool—an unforgettable experience where you can truly unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty. The villa was clean and well-maintained. Every evening, the friendly staff would come by to close the curtains and prepare the room for the night. Fantastic!
The spa is very clean and offers a variety of professional treatments. The full-body scrub and massage were both relaxing and well-executed.
The gym is equipped with some Technogym machines, allowing you to do a few exercises during your stay.

This place is Amazing ❤️ The staff go above and beyond for you with their service, So nice and Happy all the time time. we would go on Day trips and be greated with food and drink hampers free of charge to take with us.
The accommodation itself was beautiful, very private and stunning views. It really was a dream come True.
The food was some of the best food I’ve ever Tasted compliments to the chef he is Fantastic.

As SA travellers the people on the beach can be a bit much - but again you are interacting with other cultural - which is wonderful. Became friend with Daniel a Messai and will keep touch. The Zanzibar are warm honest people. I loved the Jumbo while walking along the beach

Matemwe is a perfect destination for anyone who wants peace and quiet, but still has access to great activities. You can easily arrange dolphin watching and swimming tours – look for Captain Lucho, he helped us with everything and made the experience amazing. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices.
Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices.
What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning.
Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going
Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.
Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it.
We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip.
Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough.
The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean...
If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

The nearby beaches are scenic, but there are some important things to consider. The ocean is full of sea urchins, making swimming risky without proper footwear. During the day, low tide pulls the water far from the shore, so swimming may not always be possible. If you walk toward the reef, expect to be approached frequently by local beach vendors, which can feel intrusive — especially when you're clearly not carrying money. Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

Many restaurants and beach bars , next to Badolina Bungalows . Good prices and good food at Baraka restaurant and Nanasi restaurant. And , also , at Zava restaurant.
For excursions I recommend Yussufu , very nice guy and good prices .

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 .
We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe.
There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner.
Not too far from stone town.
