This cozy beachside resort offers a peaceful, serene escape with exceptional service. The owner, Loay, is incredibly hospitable and always available on WhatsApp to attend to any needs including your meal order, excursion plans etc. (I have yet to see this service at another resort). Rufina, the friendly and attentive waitress, made every meal enjoyable. Unlike other resorts, this one has fewer hawkers, allowing for a more relaxed experience. It’s the perfect spot for relaxation, with a personal touch that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended!

If we could give this property a higher rating, we would! My wife and I stayed there as the last stop of our honeymoon trip across Zanzibar, and our experience in this hotel exceeded our expectations! Villa: We stayed at the Sultan Villa, which was very spacious and clean and offered an opportunity to unwind during the day whenever we needed a break from the sun. The bed was very comfortable, and the view of the ocean was dreamy! There is a good-sized patio where you can enjoy your morning coffee first thing and listen to the calming waves. We also got the chance to watch some monkeys playing directly in front of us, which was great entertainment. Food: If you are a foodie, you will love this place. From breakfast to dinner, we were spoiled for choice, including freshly baked pastries, numerous egg options made right in front of you by one of the chefs, local fruit, and freshly brewed coffee. The dinners were two-hour long feasts with different themes each night. We were lucky to experience the Swahili dinner on Tuesday night, with live music to accompany the expertly prepared meals. We also had a special welcome dinner prepared for us on the beach on the first night, which we really appreciated :) Staff: The nicest people working on the property who were always happy to help and made us feel at home! We learnt a lot about the dishes they were serving and their ingredients. You also have someone by the pool area to talk about the tides and the best times for swimming or kayaking/paddling (both sports are available at the property). Pool / beach area: Very comfortable loungers with a direct view of the ocean! The whole property is very well maintained. Spa: Definitely get to the spa before leaving, we had a very relaxing massage and my wife got a papaya facial which she loved. We would love to come back next time we are in Zanzibar! Thank you for everything :)

There is so much to say about this lovely hotel! The staff members are incredibly kind and always available to assist whenever you need them. They decorated our room for my fiancé’s birthday surprise and even offered us a small bento cake. It was so cute! Regarding the location, the hotel is only about 35 minutes from the airport and close to Paje, but it’s a bit far from the northern part of the island. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and offer a beautiful view of the pool and the beach — especially the Mafia 1 room. The food was delicious, and the scent inside the rooms was simply divine. I was in love with it! Even our clothes came back from the laundry smelling amazing. The spa is cute, and the massage was relaxing — I truly recommend it. The ladies there really know what they’re doing!

I recently spent a delightful week at the Zanzibar Bay Resort in Uroa, and I must say, it was an amazing stay from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the staff, setting a welcoming tone for our entire stay. Our journey from the ferry terminal to the resort, facilitated by a private transfer service, was smooth and well-organized, taking only 45 minutes. Throughout our stay, the culinary experience was a highlight. The buffet-style meals offered a variety of options, allowing us to indulge in both international and Tanzanian cuisine. Each day brought new programs and activities for guests to enjoy, including enlightening Maasai dances that provided insight into their rich culture and traditions. In the evenings there were traditional dance performances. Massai too! The resort's beachfront location was simply soothing, perfect relaxation. The all-inclusive package had variety of drinks and cocktails to enjoy. Additionally, the attentive staff made sure to inquire about our comfort during daily housekeeping, even offering mosquito control services in the evenings. For those seeking adventure, the resort provided a range of tourist programs, from snorkeling excursions to island trips and boat rides, with options to suit everyone. What stood out was the staff's friendly and informative approach, never being pushy but always eager to share insights and assist with arrangements. Moreover, the resort boasted amenities such as a gym and spa, adding to the overall experience of relaxation and rejuvenation. The experience at the Zanzibar Bay Resort was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of excellent service, diverse activities, and serene surroundings made for an unforgettable stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a truly memorable getaway and would undoubtedly choose to stay here again!

So first of all after reading a lot of reviews a was expecting a really really horibble road to the hotel from the main road like a good 15 min. It was really not bad at all .... We were greeted at reception by Glory who was very kind and helpfull throughout our stay. We also had the pleasure of meeting Moses & Thomas who carted our things to our over water villa and were a pleasure to speak with during our stay. Our room was amazing! Everything and more. It is very large and well equiped we were worried about the boats passing by after reading reviews on here about it however we only experiance it a few times mostly early morning fishing boats and sunset tourist boats. The over water villas have the option to eat at the main restaurant or at the private restaurant on the dock. James was an excellent host and the food was excellent. My husband is a picky eater and they accomadated all of his requestes as well as mine being a vegetarian who is lactos intolerant.

It was a lovely place, located on quiet beach. With just 12 rooms, its perfect for a quiet getaway. The aesthetics are very nice, coming from an Italian owner. The food was superb, especially for Vegetarians, which can be a little difficult to find in Zanzibar, but to top it all, their craft beer was out of the world. Didn't expect such amazing craft beer.

Had an amazing time in Matlai! Everything was perfect! Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant had the best dumplings and Bao buns! Our butlers Tito and Jubair were very friendly and always ready to provide us with whatever we needed. The hotel spa was great as well!

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third...

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable. This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing...

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

the welcoming commetee was amazing. They made us feel at home. Checking in was a breeze and the pool bar staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the music by the pool area,it was inclusive to all nations. Tha food was amazing the whole experience was great. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they made it extra special. From the decoration in my room,to the suprise cake and singing.i had a good time. The rock resturant is less than 5min away, we wemt there using the free bicycle offered at the hotel.

The location was excellent.

The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.

It was amazing!!

It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️
