The swimming pool was lovely, It was very close to the Nungwi Beach and lots of restaurants around and they had fun events in the hotel too. Staff were extremely polite and friendly, always checking to see if I was okay. Then the food…absolutely the best for me. Lizzy at the spa was an absolute delight. Mo at the reception was very very helpful too.

No finish time, so great if you sleep over 😊 The bar and the restaurant were great with a big social area to talk to other guests. Very good massage available at the place. Very friendly employees, they will do their best for you to have the most amazing experience. The food is REALLY DELICIOUS, the "seafood salad" and the "mixed prawns and calamari" skewers are a must have. The view from the hotel room is out of this world. I could not recommend this place more.

The entire property is really well laid out, with trees around the pool that give it a really warm and intimate feeling but also provide much-needed shade if you burn easily like I do. The food area and swing seats are inviting and relaxing, so it's a real oasis. The rooms are light and comfortable with good air conditioning. They are also remarkably sound proof, with some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in in Tanzania. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, and I love the resident kittens they have taken in. The food was good and breakfast was filling and tasty. It's well located in that the beach and shops are in very easy walking distance, but it isn't impacted by the hustle and bustle or the noise that is common in other venues. A really delightful find, we will certainly be back!

The dining experience at Gold Zanzibar was unparalleled, with each dinner made even more special by planned nightly live music and performances that added an unforgettable ambiance. However, it was the extraordinary staff that truly set this experience apart. Everything!!! The food (breakfast, lunch & dinner) was exceptional! The staff were all super friendly. The resort is beautiful, clean, beds so comfortable with 2 x pillows p/person with different softness! There are 2 pools and 2 restaurants. The beach was always clean and we always felt welcomed & were looked after all the time 🩷 Nothing was a problem. Everybody was extremely accommodating. They offer lots of activities one of them ‘Reef walking’ which I recommend. There’s lots of activities for the kids as well which keeps them entertained. A big thank you to Ali, Jamal and all the staff too many to mention for making our stay one of the best vacations we’ve had. Asante Sana

Z hotel is on the beach..the sister hotel Z2 is next to it and you can use all the amenities of Z hotel. Z2 is almost brand new. On the beach you have all the sporting activities and you can directly negotiate good prices with the boats to take excursions rather than use the high prices of the tour operators. The nanasi beach club is just 450m walk from Z Hotel and really good vibes . Z hotel has an excellent location and has an Indian restaurant with amazing food . Will definitely come.back

Bluebay Beach is a lovely resort with a nice beach front. The meals were very good with a large variety of dishes. During dinner and afterwards there are shows and music for entertainment. All in all a great stay. Just a note if you have problems walking up the stairs - ask for one of the bungalows close to the main building, as some buildings are really up high (with a beautiful view though). Highlight was the Aqua fitness and the coconut demonstrations. We learned a lot!

It was a lovely place, located on quiet beach. With just 12 rooms, its perfect for a quiet getaway. The aesthetics are very nice, coming from an Italian owner. The food was superb, especially for Vegetarians, which can be a little difficult to find in Zanzibar, but to top it all, their craft beer was out of the world. Didn't expect such amazing craft beer.

After we booked, Geoffrey contacted us on behalf of the hotel to offer activities and a free room upgrade for our group. They also put extra beds in the rooms for us as we were travelling with friends and didn't want to share double beds. As SA travellers the people on the beach can be a bit much - but again you are interacting with other cultural - which is wonderful. Became friend with Daniel a Messai and will keep touch. The Zanzibar are warm honest people. I loved the Jumbo while walking along the beach

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm.

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm. Because of the strong tides there's only water in the morning and the afternoon but it makes the beach very interesting and beautiful and gives the oportunity to walk far out and find seashells and starfish. The only downside to the beach is the many very insisting sellers who make it impossible to go for a walk without being approached.

A peaceful and welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful. The staff was funny and very friendly. Big thanks to Jana and her staff, Lameck in the restaurant section and Janet in housekeeping was so sweet and they looked after us at our 8-night stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to...

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten...

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.
