The swimming pool was lovely, It was very close to the Nungwi Beach and lots of restaurants around and they had fun events in the hotel too. Staff were extremely polite and friendly, always checking to see if I was okay. Then the food…absolutely the best for me. Lizzy at the spa was an absolute delight. Mo at the reception was very very helpful too.

It was calm comfy and nice mix of beach with nature (for couples and families it’s amazing). They prepared a little detail on the bed to welcoming our honeymoon (our first impression was top) The buffet was changing a little bit per day so good (the juice, crepes, Spanish egg, fresh fruit and avocados…) the staff are so kind and helpful they help to get tuk tuk if you want to go around paje Have the beach just in front and have beds to tan , there’s a security guy there always + they offer clean towels all the time to use in the beach. There’s a little store too if you want to buy some necklaces,clothe or souvenirs to Daniel (he is the kindest) You can walk by the beach and go to other restaurants around( we did our night walks around the beach with the moonlight) We definitely will comeback!!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at this incredible hotel during our trip to Zanzibar, and it turned out to be such an amazing experience that we couldn’t leave! We had originally booked for just 2 nights, but after the first night, we were so impressed that we decided to extend our stay by an additional 3 nights, staying until the end of our trip. That decision turned out to be one of the best we made during our entire vacation! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine care. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make sure every aspect of our stay was perfect. Their attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction made us feel completely at home and created a truly unforgettable experience. The property itself is stunning, with beautifully designed furniture made from local materials, adding an authentic and unique charm to every space. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony that gave us a beautiful view of the ocean. Sitting there in the morning, watching the ocean, was the perfect way to start each day. It was simple, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for on a vacation. The housekeeping team did an amazing job, keeping everything spotless and ensuring we had everything we needed every single day. The hotel also has direct beach access, where we enjoyed the soft sand and stunning ocean views. The addition of private sun loungers reserved exclusively for guests made it easy to relax in comfort and enjoy the beautiful Nungwi beach. The cuisine at this hotel is absolutely world-class! We tried many other places around Zanzibar, but the food here was by far the best. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, every dish was crafted to perfection with a perfect balance of local flavors and international flair. The meals, paired with quick and friendly service, quickly became one of the highlights of our days.

Me and my partner have been to many different hotels on Zanzibar - Baladin is on our top 3 list. Reasons are the excellent location at a beautiful beach, the really nice rooms which is very well kept, the amazing food from the kitchen and the really friendly and caring staff. We will very certainly return again. Other plus points: Not many Massai on the beach, which can be a real hassle in other areas. Other food options nearby in case you do want to change things up - although this is one of the best spots to eat at. Rooms are pretty big so can very comfortably host a couple with 2 kids or a group of friends. Other than that the place is perfect for romantic getaways. The whole operation runs very smoothly - might be due to the steady hand of the Swiss Manager and her partner - in anyways you can see things are taken care of.

The hotel staff is very welcoming, specifically Mr Erick, and the man who wears traditional zanzbar clothes was very welcoming .The staff in all kitchens are clean and smiling to the guests and jokes with us which makes our stay more fun 😁 The housekeepers are clean and nice .

There are a lot of hidden costs when coming to Nungwi.

There are a lot of hidden costs when coming to Nungwi. If you book any excursions, be prepared to pay double what you book for as they add on conservancy and entry fees on top. The beaches are not the crystal clear blue that you think. The beaches are highly affected by the tides. When it is low tide the beach is covered with seaweed and the water is too far out for you to swim. You only get to swim for a few hours a day when it is in high tide. If I were booking to come back to Zanzibar, go to Paje!!

Jambiani Beach is one of the most beautiful and authentic beaches in Zanzibar. Kiwengwa is an amazing place , only annoying this is the amount of African people that hassle you on the beach - men dressed as masi that are not from the the masi Maru tribe ( pretending they are ) and annoying you when you trying to enjoy a peaceful walk it is over bearing and no one wants that on their holiday - was most beaches in Zanzibar !!

Matemwe is a perfect destination for anyone who wants peace and quiet, but still has access to great activities. You can easily arrange dolphin watching and swimming tours – look for Captain Lucho, he helped us with everything and made the experience amazing. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten...

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.
