Great experience, quick and friendly check in. Room was in good size and clean. Beds were comfortable. For the money we have paid the standard was more than we expected to be. I can recommend it to anyone who can visit Black Canyon of Gunnison Park as it is very close. I was surprised we were offered tea,coffee and snacks for the breakfast which was very nice of the Motor Lodge.

Montrose is a gateway to the famous Black Canyon and the spectacular San Juan Mountain range. All very scenic. Montrose has several grocery stores, a Walmart and a Home Depot, so between all one should be able to get anything else they might need. Two EV charging stations in town.

This property needs a fire and health inspection.

This property needs a fire and health inspection. Smoke alarms are old and yellowed and in one room it was hanging from the ceiling. Air conditioner was full of dust, dog hair every where, holes in the walls. Dirty linens. Outside area smelled like urine. Flop house status!!

There are two things I particularly recommend for Montrose.

There are two things I particularly recommend for Montrose. The Montrose Donut and Deli. And The Cabin Restaurant. Montrose Donut Makes a particularly good donut. The cake is perfectly crispy on the outside light and moist on the inside. The glazed raised was the best working out of that simple classic I have had in years. The Cabin is a great place for breakfast, the portions are ample. and everything was exactly as I asked for it. The bacon stands out for me. Perfectly crispy and unusually uniformly cooked. Also surprisingly big slices of bacon. The hash browns were my idea of perfection Crispy on the outside and some tender less well done potatoes on the inside. The eggs were fine. Montrose has good food choices.
