From the outside this looks like a classic American motel, but once you are inside you find that everything is done right here. Rooms are nicely decorated, clean, good bathroom, good beds, no excessive noise from airco’s or neighbors. The hot breakfast was great, you are within minutes walking to some great restaurants. We loved this place.

Nicely furnished rooms with everything you’d need. The lady that checked us in was really friendly. Right next door to Casa Calaca - we had great food there - if you didn’t want to drive into town (just a couple of miles away). The breakfast at the Lodge was a really welcome surprise - great choices to set us up for our journey back to Denver and then home to the UK.

Rooms are very comfortable and quiet and the hot tub is such a great bonus :) Hope to be visiting again soon. Thanks again for a fantastic stay.

We came to see the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

We came to see the Great Sand Dunes National Park. You can’t do day rentals for sand boarding equipment from Oasis so that was disappointing as we were departing too early to close out the return. Alamosa is quiet with a lot of one way streets. We ate at Emma’s Mexican restaurant. The food was okay but the server was good. We got Sonic for dessert and Starbucks the next day for breakfast and coffee. Gas was reasonably priced.

Blocked off downtown to-apparently lower vehicle traffic-but decreased available parking-a bit difficult for older people, we ate at the Boathouse as we have for years as well as Amicis (spelling) plus a family Mexican restaurant on hwy 50 as regular stops for us.

Great place for visit, locals DO NOT like the tourists too...

Great place for visit, locals DO NOT like the tourists too much, witnessed a bad altercation between a motorcyclist and a lady in a Tesla. I did not hear the whole convo but at the end she yelled 'well I live here and PLEASE do NOT come back' - IMHO the motorcyclist did nothing wrong. That being said everyone was VERY kind to me and I just kind of did my thing LOL. Anyways you ARE in vacay land so prices will be adjusted accordingly. Is VERY dry, we were under a fire pre-evacuation the entire time. Scenery is GORGEOUS, I went on the highest rated hike in the area - Four Mile Falls and it was stunning. Tons of hiking and places to visit in the area, easy to get down to Georgia O'Keefe's ranch and all kinds of spas in the area. Great places to eat, yeah I really had a great time 👍

The train ride was terrific, more so because of the fall colors from the aspen trees. We had breakfast at Fina's which is a Great little mom and pop place. Reasonable prices and very good food with a Mexican flair. Dinner was at the Iron Rail Inn which is a great place to eat and offers hotel rooms also, They were booked up when we got there. Good menu, good bar and nice ambience. Definitely would stay there and also eat there on a future trip.

I really did not have the time to go into South Fork and see what the town was about. We went up there for a family thing at Treasure Falls in Pagosa Springs. It was for the 1 yr anniversary of our mothers passing. Please clean the grills so others will be able to use them. Also wash the windows. The view is beautiful and the spots on the windows bring the view down.

A very homey town, charming and quiet.

A very homey town, charming and quiet. There are several nature reserves nearby for migrating sandhill cranes and other birds, and a Crane Festival if one comes at the right time. I went to the Great Sands Dunes National Park, which is beautiful and novel. I ate with relatives, but there are nice restaurants nearby for dining, and my locals enjoy their menus. The hotel sits at a crossroads for easy access to any direction, and mountain access is all around, which includes skiing, hiking, rockhounding in old mines, and scenic drives.

Was visiting tracing my genealogy in the area.

Was visiting tracing my genealogy in the area. Everyone that I met was very nice and personable, extremely helpful with the local history and documents searches that I did at the clerk's office. I stayed on the ground level of the rail station on Main Street, and the traffic through the town did not affect my sleep at all, so it's a nice, quiet town. We had great Mexican food on Main Street, there was at least 1 bar that we walked past, and I counted 2 dispensaries. The convenience store just south of the train tracks has hot coffee and yummy breakfast burritos in the morning. I had a very enjoyable stay, I look forward to bringing my children back with me someday soon.
