Delicious restaurant, elegant breakfast with tasty dishes and coffee, swimming pool with a city view and one of the best rooftop bars we've been to in HCMC (and we visited quite a lot of them :)) We had a pleasure to stay in La Siesta on Halloween and the hotel organized amazing party! Staff was outstanding; after couple of days we felt like friends, meanwhile everyone was still super professional and dedicated. Cosy, comfortable SPA. All services with a very good quality-price ratio. Perfect location, near to the city center, yet in the not too busy street.

Very nice hotel, close to the main attractions of district 1. Room was airy and clean. Staff were very helpful and attentive, especially Jacob, who went out of his way with advise and recommedations. Free laundry service was also a nice touch.

The traffic crossings were still dangerous even when the on-coming traffic was facing red and the people crossing had the green man. The cluttering of most busy footpaths with motor bikes and the riders using them along the footpaths was a disgrace. In several places the mix of motorbike/scooters blocked the footpaths and many had tiny chairs for people eating out on the footpath. So called "security guards" were 90% smokers and looked unlikely to help any law-breaking. I have been to HCM several times, the footpaths are still like target practice for the riders and would not be tolerated in more advanced countries.

Ho Chi Minh City is busy but not as mad busy as similar...

Ho Chi Minh City is busy but not as mad busy as similar cities such as Bangkok for example. It is easy and comfortable to walk everywhere in the central district. There is a great variety of restaurants and bars and eating out is great value for money compared to Europe. The night Food Street Market is great and really cheap. I found the City really safe when walking around day or night and didn't have any security concerns atall.

Great escape from the bustling city of Saigon, only 1.5hrs traveling by motorbike ... Many historical sites to dive into, plenty of serene countryside rice fields & bumpy offroad trails to explore ... If seeking accommodations, be sure to check out Les Hameaux de l'Orient :)

HCMC is massive, noisy, hot and full of scooters.

HCMC is massive, noisy, hot and full of scooters. An important point of my trip but 3 nights were enough. It's a good base for Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta trips. One day to explore the main city attractions and just walk around. I wouldn't skip it but found it way too much on traffic and pollution scale. HCMC was my starting and finishing point of Vietnam trip - the airport is very busy so make sure you give yourself plenty of time (long waiting at immigration). Overall, HCMC is worth visiting but not for chill out time. If you like night time thrills, there's plenty of bars, clubs etc.
