Beautiful farm with nice dogs around, close to de hoop in the middle of wide farmlands. the hosts are really welcoming, helpful and show and explain farmlands and farming, if you are interested in that. Thank you Niel for that interesting nightdrive!
The accommodation itself has everything you need. The furnishing is rustic farm like and very authentic with a lot of beautiful little details. You can order order delicious breakfast and lunch which was authentic delicious southafrican meals made by the Saartjie .(we loved your food)
If you travel by car, like nature and animals and you are looking for an authentic accommodation as base for hikes and visiting de Hoop, this is the right place

I loved this place! If you’re a nature lover, it’s the perfect spot. There’s a great restaurant with a fixed price of €25 per person, but you also have the option to barbecue outside your bungalow. I recommend stocking up on groceries beforehand, as the nearest supermarket is about an hour away. The property offers both indoor and outdoor bathrooms. I tried the outdoor shower, and I highly recommend it for the experience! Even though the property is located within a reserve, we were pleasantly surprised by how few insects bothered us during the barbecue. However, it’s worth noting that, even of the bungalows are a very nice and well manteined, being surrounded by nature, it’s possible for a few insects to make their way inside the little house.

The Otter suites were very cool and unique. Comfortable and spacious. The food was first class and the service exceptional. The excursions were fairly priced and the hosts knowledgable and very friendly. This was one of the highlights of our trip along the Garden Route.

Barry's reminds me of a little house (or apartments) trapped in time in the midwest USA (or anywhere) during the 1950's. The place is very homey. It is so relaxing and the best thing about Barry's is that it accepts Bitcoin Lightning in a town where most businesses accept Bitcoin Lighning. This is going to bring a huge boost to the town and it makes paying for your room a breeze from anywhere you are on the planet at the moment of payment. The cat on site is extremely friendly and adds to the homey feel. I could see a old VW Beatle over the wall in the neighbors which reminds me of Mexico that had millions of these back in the day.

Luxury houses are located in a very picturesque location. You feel like you're in some other historical reality! All design elements are thought out to the smallest detail. We really liked it. It's a pity that we only spent one night here. We would like to come back here again!

It is worth your while to visit De Hoop.
It is worth your while to visit De Hoop. We saw a lot of animals but unfortunately no whales due to the wind. The beach is amazing as is the restaurant by the beach. The long dirt road is a bit of a challenge.

It's an absolute beaut to stay on the River.
Indoor braai and the walks down to the riverside was awesome.
Ample space.
The Double Bunks make up for more space for more people which is great.
The cupboards was dirty
And the fridge had a smell
All in all very nice stay.
The Bees came out the Sunday but scary though just glad it was after we had a blast there.

The indoor market is a must visit.
The indoor market is a must visit. The only general dealer in Witsand has a wide variety of products in stock at only a little bit more expensive than the big supermarkets. We felt very safe during our stay and the ladies and children could walk everywhere without feeling unsafe. Remember to check on the restaurant specials at the beach and don't forget the excellent roosterkoek at the indoor market.

The reserve is not a big 5 animal park but has an amazing biodiversity of flora and birds. It has an inland lagoon, a large white dune field and a beautiful coastline where you can spot whales in the right season. It also has the only remaining Cape Vulture colony in the Western Cape.
To access the park, you need to travel on long stretches of gravel road, so is a bit off the beaten track. You need to pay a conservation fee at the entrance (check Cape Nature for rates). It hosts the multiday slack-packing hike of the Whale Trail. However, it also has lovely day walks and bike rides, where you can get up quite close to the animals.

It was beautiful but rugged and not everything is easily accessible. I would go there in a heart beat for a fishing trip, but I think there are better places to go to the beach for parents with small children.
