We were blown away by the efforts made by Danielle in hosting us, from the amazing home cooked food in such a beautiful setting to making sure we had clean rooms, new towels, and made beds to return to every morning. As for the safari, it is difficult to find the words to describe how amazing this was. We really appreciated JP sharing his experiences and knowledge of the animals and his patience in answering our many questions. There is nothing like seeing an elephant with its baby walk right past you or a lion so full after a kill that it can barely move. In the end, we saw zebras, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, impala, rare wild dogs, and many other animals and birds. We already miss our coffee by the river as the sun comes up...it was perfect in every way.

The Simbavati Hilltop Lodge is a very special location. Since the first minute we felt in love with this beautiful place within the Kruger Nationalpark. Welcomed by Brad, Caroline and the team directly let us felt at home. Our Lodge had a view into the wild. Lying on the day bed on the balcony was so relaxing. And we even could spot Giraffes and other wildlife. The Lodge itself was equipped with everything that is needed. Also the bathroom with the tube with a view and the outdoor shower was so special.
Daniel was taking care of us during breakfast, lunch and dinner. By the way: the meals are incredible and Daniel is also a good bar tender. Always good for a joke.
Rudolf and Thabo, our Game Drive driver and tracker, where incredible. They tried to fullfill all the wishes and yes, we saw the Big 5. Rudolf explained a lot about the animals and answered every question.
Thanks again to the Simbavati Hilltop Lodge team for this "Once in a lifetime" experience.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights and it was simply incredible! The care and attention to detail were something I hadn’t experienced in a long time. They were always making sure we had the best experience possible. We arrived late, and even so, they prepared a special lunch just for us.
The bed was super comfortable, and the thoughtful touch of leaving hot water bottles made everything even more special. There are 2 game drives per day, and we were able to see the animals really up close, with guides who were so attentive and passionate about what they do.
I must give a special thanks to Tamara, who was always so helpful and even assisted me in recovering my jacket that I had forgotten at the lodge.
I highly recommend it with my eyes closed! An excellent place to stay — just book it and enjoy the best safari!

Where do I start… most incredible place I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was INCREDIBLE. We had the best Ranger (Ryan) ever, so full of energy and made our experience one never to forget. The Chef (Henlu) was the nicest guy you could ask for, our butler (Obert) also one to make us smile at every turn and would get every single detail perfect without flaw! We had the best time ever and couldn’t have wished for a better way to finish an amazing Honeymoon. Thank you so much

The location is a dream! The lodge is absolutely high end and the view is stunning! Watching animals from the moment you wake up in the morning until it gets dark - an absolte dream! Also, the Team is amazing and makes everyone feel more than welcome. Even though we unfortunatly got sick and couldn't enjoy the food and drinks as much as we would have wanted, it was still an outstanding stay which we 100% reccomend!

Everything was simply excellent - the staff, the food (including the Boma events), the suite with the amazing terrace and view, the game drives and the animals we saw (including seeing 4 leopards 5 times and the wild dogs twice which tends to be rare on other safaris in other locations). We would definitely recommend Leopard Hills further.

The overall experience staying here was just amazing. we had booked a full board with Safari's included twice a day. Our guide and tracker were very knowledgeful about the area and helped us spot big 5 in safaris. The food was good, specially the dinner.

Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges...
Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges inside. It is open to Kruger park, so animals are free to roam anywhere. The difference is that the ranger and tracker can actually follow an animal wherever they go (without entering Kruger). It is expensive , but if you can afford it, the experience is quite different.
The ranger and tracker that took us for a drive from Umkumbe were great. The ranger spotted a chameleon on the tree, in the dark, under the light beam from the trackers torch, at a distance of about 25m. We have no clue how!
Great experience to be able to go offroad in the vehicle and get really close to the animals. A leopard had hidden their kill in the tree, which we went back to after dark, when the leopard had come back. Unfortunately that was the only cat we saw that night. Saw a hippo and a hyena too, but that's just luck when you are out in the bush.
A family on the previous night had seen the leopard kill the buck as well.
The private Sabi game drive is expensive, and depending on how lucky you get, you might think it is either worth it/or a waste of money.

Quite a nice destination for international travelers and...
Quite a nice destination for international travelers and younger people who want to have a bush experience. For 77 year old South Africans we found the facilities not so user friendly at the Wild Olive Tree Camp. Did not really get to see much of Manyeleti but did have some good elephant sitings. In general game viewing was a bit disappointing but that is the luck of the draw.

It was a brilliant experience, in particular the game drives and being out in the wild.
The resort is excellent!
Tips:
No loo on a 3-hour game drive so don’t drink too much before heading out.
For photographers - consider using two cameras - short lens and long lens ones. Saves having to switch lens if you have two cameras ready. Speed if reaction is required to capture some shots.

I am South African and I was bringing my family to see where I came from and experience the bush. This place was perfect for a family . They rooms for families are excellent, giving everyone enough space and the beds where very comfy. There is no TV - but there is bush TV - each day elephants, warthogs, various species of buck, zebra etc came and spent time out the front of our deck. We sat 1m away reading a book. We go so close it was wonderful and the kids got to experience the beauty of watching an animal relaxed and happy in their own environment. Andre and Nicholas were amazing guides who were patient and funny and taught us a lot about the animals and the environment. The food was amazing and you never felt like you wanted or needed more. Pretty much everything was made onsite. The breakfast was beautiful and the Boma experience was lovely! Thank you to all the team at Simbevati River lodge for making my family’s introduction to Africa such a wonderful memorable experience! And the animals - well we saw the big 5 in less than 24 hours and because the guides know their stuff we had plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with many of Africas famous and less famous animals. The highlights were the Lion and Leopards and of course the dear family of elephants with tiny babies and also the baby hyenas! You will not be disappointed at all !

we stayed at the lodge the whole time we were at kruger, and it was super safe and beautiful, the days were planned amazingly well. next time i will bring a better camera, binoculars and a nicer hat! The stargazing was immense, we saw the whole milky way!

A fantastic private lodge with a beautiful rooms and tastefully decorated. The host Ian is outstanding as a person. If you are there especially for the hide photography I would recommend 4 days. We were unlucky with the two days we stayed in terms of sightings but that all changed the day we left. Hence would recommend at least 3 if not 4-5 days to better your chances.

I paid 5,700 Rand for 3 evening drives in the reserve each lasting around 3 hours. I've been on many a game drive in the area over the years and when game spotting I am optimistic and realistic at the same time. I saw a 3 lions and a leopard along with other animals. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate my overall experience as 6. If I were to travel to the area in the future I would book 1 drive and concentrate my game viewing in Kruger Park.
