- From US$84.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 408 reviewsThe Chalet was perfect and had everything we required. The best part was the braai station, right outside, with plenty of wood available. The surroundings were beautiful and tranquil, and we saw many zebras and other bucks walking around. The on-site restaurant had really great food and drinks. If you'd like to self cater, the kitchen is well set up. All you need is the groceries and braai meat to see you through your stay. Accessing shops once you are there is not an easy trip, as the lodge is truly in the middle of nowhere... which is wonderful.Guest review bySUMONAUnited Arab Emirates
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 110 reviewsAn family-run old traditional house, apparently which was an old library and tobacco store, converted into a 'farm house'. Wooden floors and super high ceilings. The garden was beautiful full of flowers. A swimming pool for the kids to swim. And the Wilgewandel public farm was truly amazing! The kids had the best time on the lake and the water slides were an amazing! And a peacock walking around the restaurant! Amazing. And the staff were so helpful and friendly. Very thankful for the wonderful service!Guest review byClaireBahrain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 483 reviewsSanbona is a private safari reserve on the scale of a small national park, and run with the dedication of a conservation project. The safari experience is amazing – in our two drives we saw giraffes, lions, elephants, rhino and more. But with our guide's enthusiasm and insight, I felt immersed into the ecosystem of the reserve rather than that I was simply looking at rare animals. The staff often went above and beyond, the family lodge was comfortable, and the food and drink very good.Guest review byDavidNetherlands
- From US$97.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 386 reviewsLovely welcome by the two owners, Andy and Penny and their staff. Andrea showed us through the vineyard to our cottage. We were overwhelmed by the nice cottage, the plunge pool, together with the stunning surroundings. Penny had meticulously picked out the dinner menus for the two nights we stayed, and the wines from their proper production were top-notch. We can warmly recommend Mymering to friends and family!Guest review byErikaBelgium

The accomodation and food were wonderful. The get togethers non the veranda watching the wildlife and hearing everything about the animals were very nice. We got great tips and help in planning many fun activities, that were booked and arranged for us by our host.Guest review byFritsNetherlands

There is so much to do and keep busy.
There is so much to do and keep busy. The Cango Caves - must see. The Cango Ostrich farm, an amazing experience. Then there was the Wild Life Ranch - have to go! Buffelsdrift, amazingly beautiful. The Rust& Vrede waterfalls - please take cash! The Spur with their friendly staff and the newly opened Hennies! Wish we had a few more days. There was also the Suzuki Safaritown Festival and the Boks game was expceptional.Guest review byVan Graan - 8.0
Lovely quiet country village.
Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 6.0

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.Guest review byDouglasSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
