- From US$210.92 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 316 reviewsWe had an excellent stay at Mooiplass Guesthouse! Superman John, Marshall and all the staff made us feel right at home. They went the extra mile to make sure our stay was great. We also took the informative ostrich farm tour with Ben at he guesthouse. Ben is very knowledgeable in everything ostrich! He also doubles as the braai master! The dinner was delicious in a beautiful spot, outside overlooking the pool and the expanse of the Karoo. Recommend having dinner at the guesthouse! The rooms very well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was very generous with plenty of options. The guesthouse is in a great location near the main ostrich farms outside Oudtshoorn.Guest review byJulieCanada
- From US$1,365.77 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 482 reviewsIt far exceeded our expectations, it’s very well run , nicely luxurious, excellent staff and we had some good game drives and were fortunate to see a Cheetah, there are only 3 on the property ( bigger than Singapore) no lion sightings which was a disappointment but nature doesn’t always perform to order. Some excellent interactions with a the elephants. The food was good and from the decking we saw Kudo, Gazelles, Baboons, a Lion was spotted and a Brown Hyena.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom
- From US$83.82 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 407 reviewsWow! We drove the" wrong" way over the rooiberg pass and arrived the back way, so this felt even more like a dramatic arrival into paradise! Riaan made us feel so welcome- lit fires, advised walking tracks and checked us in. The dinner was one of the best we had on South Africa. Great wine, roaring fire, good coffee and breakfast.... I would happily hole up in room 8 for at least a week. Thank you all for a fabulous stay.Guest review bykerrynAustria

Lovely quiet country village.
Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 6.0

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.Guest review byDouglasSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

we have been to Oudtshoorn several times over a number of years. The attractions are mainly the same but still worth a visit - however interesting to see how much the town has grown and evolved. The drive through the Swartberg Mountains is NOT to be missed. The primary reason we took this trip.Guest review bySumayaSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
