My sister (21 years old) and I (25 years old) spent four days with Rob and Marianne, and we can only say it was absolutely fantastic. Rob and Marianne are incredibly kind people, and the house is just beautiful. If I can offer one tip, make sure to have breakfast prepared by Rob each morning—it’s delicious! It kept us satisfied until well after lunchtime. We’d give this place 11 stars out of 10!
We had plenty of time to do our own thing, but Rob and Marianne also provided wonderful suggestions for things to do nearby. The house is very secure, and we felt safe and at home the entire time.
On our last day, Rob took us to a game reserve called Sebuya, which was truly amazing. We had a great meal at some place outside the park, and it was much more enjoyable than the typical safari tour in a jeep. We saw about as much as those on the official safari tour, but we had Rob as our guide, which allowed us to explore the park at a more relaxed pace. While you can never be certain what wildlife you’ll see on a safari, Rob had an incredible sense of where the animals might be, and he even brought binoculars for us to use. It was so thoughtful of him and Marianne to lend us those.
The other guests staying at the guesthouse were just as open and friendly as Rob and Marianne, making it an even more fantastic experience. We’re truly sad that we couldn’t stay longer, as our journey had to continue. All in all, this is an amazing place, and we would definitely come back one day!

We stayed for 4 nights at "The Lodge", an amazing historic family home that takes you back in time 100 years. Beautifully furnished with antiques and animal skin rugs. Enjoyed the fragrance of Mansfield Private Reserve's signature linen spray, moisturizer and body wash. The surrounding wildlife and birds were wonderful. . . herds of Impala, Zebra, Wildebeest and a few Blesbock were frequently very nearby. Kingfishers, Horn bills, Hoopoes, Starlings etc. flitted through the trees. A Magical Experience in every way.

This was definitely the best place I stayed in South Africa. The bed was comfortable, the food was amazing, the stars were incredible and the staff were divine. I arrived with no food and no transport and they bent over backwards to make sure I was thoroughly taken care of the entire time. Highly, highly recommend. Thank you so much!

It was really good and I can highly recommend this lovely accomodation. The game drives were stunning (thank you, Mike!) and the staff was overwhelmingly nice! Yes, it’s a little more expensive but compares to other lodges it’s the cheapest and worth every dollar. A bonus: it’s eco friendly :) We will come back!

Everything was just perfect. The bed big and comfortable, the room had a heater, the bathroom was very big and the breakfast delicious. I really liked that the water knobs in the shower were right on the side of the door. Means you could turn on the water without being sprayed with cold water!

Port Alfred is a small and attractive town with beautiful and clean beaches . It has beautiful villas guest houses and nice hotels with tasty food .There are so many tourist attractions eg. The golf club. It has two malls, Heritage mall and Rosehill mall. We went to eat at spur with my family.

Old style of buildings but in the based in the nature. Super bedroom and in the morning all kind of animals where in front of your room. Also the Akmala Game reserve tour is highly recommendable because we saw so many wild animals (lions, rhino's, cheetahs, secretary bird,...)
The dinner in the lodge was superb.

Really interesting community.
Really interesting community. Best place is on the stoep at the Pig and Whistle. Their food was great, there is a pool table for entertainment for the kids. Prices are very good and the staff very friendly and helpful.

This was a new listing , and we were the first guests, LUCKY US!! The facilities offered are too many to mention. An updated kitchen with everything that opens and closes and more. Filter water on tap, a wine fridge, every spice that you can imagine. If you have forgotten anything at home, no stress they have it. A beautiful, clean, large family home. The beds are comfortable, shower pressure is great, wifi, dstv and views from every bedroom. Our host Larraine was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. This gem is a true home from home

The village of Cannon Rocks is very quaint , beautiful beaches that are completely un-spoilt with excellent walks on the beaches and in the coastal forest - All shopping catered for in Kenton on Sea which is a 20 minute drive away

Beautiful coastal town with lots to do. We attended a beer festival in Wharf street.
Guido's at the beachfront is a must for a simple but cheap meal with friendly service. The chicken liver starter is absolulelty to die for and enough as main meal.

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 2 nights while...
We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 2 nights while visiting Addo. We arrived in the late afternoon and then took a full day game drive from the lodge. It was a bit much for us and would do a morning game drive next time. The experience was awesome, it was just too long for our pensioner bodies! Staying 2 nights was perfect because the evening gave us a nice recovery period before we hit the road for our return to Cape Town. Dungbeetle River Lodge was a perfect location from which to travel into Addo. It's literally 3 minutes from the south gate of the park.

This is the place to stay for easy access to Private Game Reserves and Safaris. Recommend Addo Elephant Park, Pumba Private Game Reserve & Sibuya. The restaurants were amazing too. Stanleys is a must. Pizzarella have amazing pizzas. Vollo and Voila also great.
