Definitely one of the highlights of my trip! Really able to hit a couple of items off with this in. I love that they have English speaking staff. I'm surprised to meet fellow Filipinos working there. It was such an awesome welcome. The rooms were amazing and spacious. I slept like a baby with the futon they prepared for me. Ordered a traditional breakfast which did not disappoint. And the private bath really soothed my tired bones after long walks going around Kyoto. Would definitely stay there again!

Perfect place to stay at Kyoto, staff was very helpful and kind. Room was comfy and clean. Location was good, a couple minutes walking distance from the metro station, bus station, main street, bars & restaurants.

First class experience from start to finish! Everyone working at The GrandWest were incredibly welcoming and we cannot fault their focus on customer service, whether helping us with bike rental (free for 2 hours) or providing towels/discounts, etc for the local Onsen. The breakfast was delicious and they had a great array of teas/coffees available for free. The quality of materials used in and around the hotel were sustainable and stylish and the roof garden a lovely idea. The location was ideal, a short stroll (5/10 mins) from the key locations on our itinerary in Arashiyama, which is the most gorgeous place. Thanks again to everyone at The GrandWest. 10/10

Get the breakfast added to your stay. The tofu bento has eel and soup with a pull tab that heats the box up within seconds, really cool to experience. Electric stove top, all cookingware and utensils included, washer/dryer unit in the room, spacious room and bathroom, phone in room, and table and chairs in the room were all very convenient. Temple view from the windows. Outside smoking area is designed as a zen garden. Yukatas provided for daily use. The staff were so polite and hospitable, one gentleman even offered a bit of history and a poem about Japan written by an American author. Beds were very comfortable. Very authentic experience, minus the tetami mats.
