The temple and grounds are stunningly beautiful. The room was the nicest I've had on this trip - comfortable and beautiful. The temple is cold but the heaters in the bedrooms made it very comfortable. The meals were delicious - again some of my best on my entire trip. They were very generous in sharing information about their religion and culture, and inviting tourists to participate in activities that helped us to better understand the life and routine at Ekoin. I appreciated the booklet in the room that explained how to navigate different things (e.g. the meditation, the morning service) so that I better understood. It was a special experience and was grateful for the opportunity to visit here.

The entire stay and experience was amazing. The staff were very professional and attentive, again this is not suppose to be a typical hotel or Ryokan but honestly their sympathy puts many other such places to shame. The offuru bath was really warm and relaxing. The garden was pretty and the morning ceremony was an unforgettable cultural experience.

This was a very special experience and well worth the cost. A real highlight of our trip. We were welcomed in with tea and sweets by a charming young woman who explained how the stay would work, Our room beautiful: a spacious room with tatami mats and futóns, low table and chakra and a gorgeous balcóny over looking the traditional garden. The food was vegan and delicious both the dinner and breakfast. Quite excepcional ! The public both was also lovely on the 1st floor. We had our own toilet and handbasin in the room. But the highlight was the 6am ceremony that was powerful and affecting. We were lucky to have a discussion with the head monk afterwards, clarifying the form and meaning. Really very special!

Amazing experience! So comfortable with great food! The highlight was definitely the monks who were so kind. Very very grateful to the young Swedish monk who took his time to explain his journey and answered all our questions, helping our immersion in the beautiful culture surrounding esoteric buddhism, this temple and Koyasan as a whole. Highly recommended!

exceptional temple, the whole experience is uplifting from the room, the facilities with the onsen, the garden, the meals and the ceremonies the guest can attend, everything amazing. The best part is the evening meditation and the morning chanting plus the wisdom the head monk shared with us. You leave with something changed in your heart and mind, very positive.

Very unique and peaceful, with beautiful gardens and architecture. The food is traditional with interesting and unusual flavours; but we really liked it. A great experience and Koyosan is stunning.
