Rooms come with a terrace, a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding. Some have an open-air hot spring bath with lake views, while all are fitted with an LCD TV with satellite channels, a mini-fridge and en suite bathroom facilities. A personal attendant ensures the guests' comfort. My favorite stay in Japan. Beautiful property, was perfect for our needs. We hiked and made summit on Fuji on the first snowfall of the 2025 season, having the private onsen was wonderful for us to sooth our muscles and prevent soreness.

Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths.

Guests at Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan stay in rooms with shoji paper screens and traditional futon bedding. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a TV and slippers. When we made our reservation, we opted for the all-inclusive package that included breakfast and dinner. Both meals were fantastic! They consisted of a variety of small dishes, making it a delightful culinary experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They kindly picked us up from our room for breakfast and dinner, and they even provided roomservice throughout our stay. Additionally, they always greeted us warmly whenever we returned from a day trip. The room itself was a pleasant surprise. It featured tatami mats, which we were instructed to leave our shoes at the entrance and wear our socks or slippers provided by the hotel. This unique experience added to the overall charm of our stay. Moreover, it was our first time visiting an onsen, which was a delightful and relaxing addition to our itinerary.

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. Amazing staff. Incredibly helpful and attentive. Bath house was very clean and relaxing. Excellent location. Very short walk from the bus and train station. Felt like it had a very central location within the city as well. If you're a runner, just about a mile and a half outside of the central town there is a beautiful running trail along the river in a more rural part of town.
