The hotel offers traditional Japanese-style rooms with futon bedding and modern rooms with Western beds. In-room facilities include a flat-screen TV, air conditioning and a fridge. An electric kettle with tea bags is also provided. Everything is great : location, shuttle service (even though it's not too far to go to the station by foot), onsen on 1F, great staff, grilled marshmallows at night in front of the Ise Bay...

Offering sea views, Ise-Shima Ohtaya Healing Stay is an accommodation situated in Toba, 700 metres from Chidorigahama Beach and 29 km from Ise Grand Shrine. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan has family rooms. I really like this place. The female owner has an inquisitive mind, a warm personality, and a kind heart. Her English is good enough to communicate and ask for help. The sauna and the private onsen in the room are top-notch. I did not check the public onsen with natural hot spring, but heard it's amazing too. I booked the 5th floor with an ocean view, and the private onsen experience during starry night and the set rise were indeed amazing! The hotel itself is located in a remote little cute fish town called osatsucho, where you can find fishmen and women harvesting and selling the Ise lobsters in the morning by the port. It was a very unique and interesting experience to stay in that little town for two days during the winter when it was not crowded at all. The nearest convenience store is 10 + miles away. It was a very natural, grounding, even retreat-like experience to me, and it was drastically different from my experience in Tokyo, Nayoga, or Osaka. I did spot a few demolished houses with broken windows in the town, not sure if it's because of COVID or during the winter when there were fewer tourists. The big plus is the Shinmei shrine next door to the hotel, which is a very calming and spiritual place to visit and stay for a bit too.

Really grateful for all the kindness.

Set near Futamiokitama Shrine and Matsushita Shrine, Oishiya is in Ise and offers free private parking and a restaurant. This 3-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests. We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a  100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring  rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful  Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!

At the ryokan, every unit is equipped with a wardrobe. Featuring a private bathroom with a bidet and slippers, units at the ryokan also boast free WiFi, while certain rooms are equipped with a terrace. All units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a TV. For our more than three-week trip around Japan, we booked most of the accommodation in advance. This was an exception, as we were not sure in advance where we would end up before departure. Although the outside looks like a classic concrete hotel like the tens of thousands in Japan, inside it was a cozy hotel offering everything. The room was large with a beautiful view of the bay. Lobby with drinks 24 hours a day and soup after 9 pm, both free. The hotel also has a beautiful large swimming pool with warm water open in the morning and evening. Men in particular will appreciate the view of the sea from the pool. The hotel is about 1.5 km from the station, but offers a free transfer to the hotel and the station. The staff was really very kind and professional. Definitely one of the best accommodations we had during our long trip. I must not forget the truly extraordinary breakfasts served in classic Japanese style. Booking usually says "fantastic" breakfast included in the price of accommodation. Sometimes the breakfasts are good, sometimes not, and the price does not say anything about them. We had almost all accommodation with breakfast here in Japan, and the breakfast in this hotel was truly fantastic. We were very pleasantly surprised by Toba, especially the aquarium, the pearl island and the sea ride. If we could, we would have stayed more than two full days.
