An Asian breakfast is available at the ryokan. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Best hotel I've stayed at in Japan. Beautiful building, incredibly lovely and helpful staff. Meals were delicious and plentiful. I proposed to my new fiancee here and I'm so glad I did because the staff and the hotel could not have been any better.

Guests can choose to stay in rooms with Western beds or Japanese futon bedding. The elegant rooms at Kadan Kotohira come with tatami-mat flooring and sliding paper screens. Amenities include an LCD TV, a DVD player and a fridge. Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style houses, where Ogai Mori wrote his famous novel. This property is truly a gem. While I can comment only on the room we stayed in, room 503 which was a Japanese style room, I would rate it as a 10/10. The staff are all lovely. Every single staff member that crossed our path was very helpful, polite and friendly. Our room had a gorgeous 180 degree view over Kotohira. The sound of the river below was so nice. If I was to stay again, I would stay in a western style room simply because I found it difficult to get off the floor. I peeked in room 302 on my way out and think any western room on that side of that building with that view, could not be beat. We did not have our dinners at the hotel but did have breakfast every day for the four days we were there. The amount of food is enough to set you for the entire day. I enjoyed a vegetarian western breakfast while my husband enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. The food is delicious, the presentation is beautifully done and the service is exceptional. Such a hard working team. The staff were happy to take us to the train station whoever we wanted to go on a day trip. A day trip to the Iya valley and one to the Ritsurin gardens should not be missed.

Towels and bed linen are featured in the ryokan. For added privacy, the accommodation has a private entrance and soundproofing.

Asahi Green Park is 17 km from the ryokan, while Yakurishion Christ Church is 17 km away. Takamatsu Airport is 7 km from the property. The design of the Oki Olive guesthouse is exceptional with incredible attention to detail at every turn. It is a beautiful space to relax in with multiple location options to rest like chairs looking out into garden, a tatami floor living room, dining table, bath, and shower. Our host was gracious and attentive and was open to making recommendations for dinner and activities. The tour of his olive farm was an added delight. We were looking for a more rural experience, so the property’s location worked well for us! We used a rental car to get to the property. There is a parking space provided.

Set in Tonosho in the Shodoshima region, with MeiPAM Art Museum and Saiko-ji Temple nearby, Kikuya Ryokan offers accommodation with free private parking. With a garden, the 1-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The accommodation features a housekeeping service and bicycle parking for guests. Me and my wife toured Japan for our honeymoon and one of our stops was Tonosho, Shodoshima. We stayed at Kikuya Ryokan and couldn't be more happy with our decision. A fantastic location just steps away from the Tonosho ferry terminal, within a 5 minute drive/bus from landmarks such as Angel Road, and last but certainly not least, our gracious host Miya-san. A cozy and spacious tatami room, amenities, yukata, tea, presents and so much more. Miya-san was one of the kindest souls we've ever met and was instrumental in making Tonosho an unforgettable experience. We'll never forget it and are so thankful for her hard work! We'll meet again, one day!

A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views. Hot-spring baths, traditional meals and massage services are featured. Kaiseki dinner was excellent. It would be helpful for some type of translation on what the food is and how to eat in a prepared written form in English. Service was great. Breakfast had quite a good selection. Location is definitely a great plus, only 3-5 minutes on foot from the train station.
