While I am not a fan of public bathing I found some hours when no one was there and I snuck in. What a luxury!!!! For next year I am getting suite with the private hot thermal spa so I don’t have to worry about the privacy. That having been said this place is six stars the service the food the Japanese ambiance and the entire experience is complete. I am an international traveler and I go to high end places only. This place was an amazing surprise in the middle of Unzen. I highly highly recommend it

There is a coffee shop on-site. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The best! We absolutely loved our stay here. Me and my fiance spent two days here and the rooms are just amazing. Everything about them from their large views to the big comfy bed you can sink into and the private onsen available to you at all hours give a complete feeling of relaxation. The food served for breakfast and dinner here is really incredible and very thoughtful. The rooftop has both a great indoor and outdoor area to sit and relax with a drink or snack as well as a courtyard area downstairs. You also can easily walk anywhere from the hotel. We can't wait to return.
