Offering public baths, Sarusawaike Yoshidaya is situated in front of Sarusawa-ike Pond. Kofuku-ji Temple is just a 2-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available on site.

Each air-conditioned room includes a seating area, a fridge and flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The bathroom comes with free toiletries. The front desk staff were SUPERIOR, the room was beyond our expectations. Located in the heart of NARA, it was a short walk to all of the attractions and downtown shopping/restaurant area. I can't say enough about the superior level of customer care we experienced and wish I could remember her name to give her credit directly.

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Hotobil B&B 潤 An inn that enjoys breakfast is located in Nara, 2.1 km from Nara Station and 21 km from Iwafune Shrine. This ryokan provides free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. Staying at Hotobil was one of my favorite parts of our whole trip to Japan - and the food was straight up the BEST (and we ate a lot of great meals out there). The location is super easy to access, just a minute away from the main tourist-friendly loop bus through town, in a quiet residential neighborhood - as soon as we stepped through the door, we felt at home, like we were visiting family, not a hotel. Our host is the nicest, most helpful lady, and the best cook. She was also so fast responding to our questions! My dad and I are both fish-ambivalent vegetarians and we made a last-minute request for breakfast (pictured! yes all that just for breakfast!) as well as dinner just a few days before we got there and as I said, they were the two best meals we had all trip. We stayed in the Japanese style tatami room, which was beautiful and almost absurdly spacious for two, with super comfy mattresses and fluffy pillows and duvets. It was enchanting, and we wished we were staying a second night (and yes, there's more than enough to see in Nara for two days).

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. Absolutely amazing place to stay. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Location was wonderful. Seeing the fire ceremony and then the sun rise in the morning were both magical.

A spacious public bath and foot bath is available for guests to relax in. Free luggage before and after check-in is available on site. Free WiFi is available at the entire building. The hotel is very nice including a superb view of the adjacent park. Very close to walk everywhere. Rooms are comfortable and shower has a very special design with a small external area. The reception and arrival services are outstanding. I only wish we could have stay longer.

The Japanese-style rooms at Mikasa Ryokan have traditional futon beds and tatami (woven-straw) floors. Each includes a flat-screen TV and private bathroom. Some rooms feature a private outdoor bath.

Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is right next to the ryokan. Wakakusayama Mountain, offering spectacular views of Nara, is a 10-minute drive away. Todai-ji Temple is a 7-minute drive. Where to start? This ryokan is located in between the mountains inside Nara Park. This makes for a beautiful scenery although only accesible by taxi or the provided free shuttle bus. The room itself was spacious and traditional japanese style, which included a balcony. All included meals were absolutely fantastic; truly a worthy experience. We went to the onsen at night and we had it all for ourselves, which added a touch more of relaxation to the bath. Lastly, all the staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, were quite friendly and spoke english. They even provided us with some free tours and activities. We are so glad that we decided to go for a stay like this one here in Nara instead of in Kyoto.
