The location is perfect, close to the station. The hosts were so kind and attentive, we miss them already. We will definitely be back. Also airconditioning in summer was a real plus. We got to experience a shamisen performance and our host made us try natto which was very questionable but a very fun experience.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. The property boasts views of Tonomine, Myojogatake and Mount Asama. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Everything! The staffs, evening entertainment, garden, restaurants, gift shop, the check in and checkout process, the hot spring tub in the patio, all excellent!

Air-conditioned rooms feature a tatami (woven-straw) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. Amenities include an LCD TV, fridge, a safe and yukata robes. All rooms have a private toilet and washbasin, while bathroom facilities are shared. Green tea sets with snacks are provided. The private onsen and traditional Kaiseki dinner were real highlights.

A fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags are included in each room. All rooms come with an en suite bathroom with a toilet and shower, while some rooms have a bathtub. The staff at Edo Sakura were absolutely amazing, warm, welcoming, attentive, and helpful when needed! The Edo Sakura was the best part of our stay in Tokyo.

At the ryokan, every unit is fitted with a tatami and a flat-screen TV. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units are equipped with heating facilities. I appreciated the friendly & very helpful staff, the location, the reasonable price, and the offer to check-in early. The other guests were quiet.
