Bathroom facilities are shared, and the public baths are open 16:00-22:00 and 06:00-09:00 daily. It was an incredible stay, the place has a unique energy and the meditation, prayers and fire ceremony and the night tour of the cementery are very memorable. The food was one of the best we had in our trip - and it was vegan

The private dining in a traditional Japanese setting was exquisite, and the onsen was a relaxing highlight. Participating in the morning prayer provided a unique spiritual connection. The monks' parting gift added a personal touch to our departure. If you seek a remarkable and culturally rich stay in Koyasan, I highly recommend this hotel.

Offering a garden and garden view, 高野山 宿坊 不動院 -Koyasan Shukubo Fudoin- is located in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Subaru Hall. Providing free private parking, the 3-star ryokan is 38 km from Kishi Station. The ryokan features family rooms. The room was perfect for us as a couple. We opted for a room with bath and it has an automatic function that fills up the bathtub, in time for a relaxing soak. We can also take a bath anytime we want, as opposed to the rooms with shared baths. The room is also spacious and the monks/staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. They provided detailed instructions on the stay, like for the morning prayer, they will knock and guide you to the prayer area/temple. The morning service was naturally in Japanese and we appreciate that there is an English translation and guide how to conduct oneself during the ceremony. Most importantly, the vegetarian dinner and breakfast were phenomenal. The best vegetarian meals we've had for a while. So definitely recommended! We would stay there again.

Tanabe
Hotel Kirinosato Takahara features outdoor and indoor hot spring baths, only a 2-minute walk from the World Heritage Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property, a terrace and rooms with a Japanese interior and Western beds. I love the design of the room which is very cozy and modern. The location is right at the center of Takahara and looking out the window, we can appreciate the whole Mountain View. I also love the foods. The host is very kind and accommodating that they agree to help us ship a package which is outside the service they listed to provide.
Koyasan
All rooms at 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- are Japanese-style and feature tatami (woven-straw) floors. Traditional futon bedding, a TV, fan and heater are provided. Bathroom and toilet are shared with other guests. The spacious public baths feature a hot tub. On-site luggage storage is available. This place exceeded my expectations. I did not expect the room to be so nice, large, and have a wonderful table and seat space with a large window and small garden view. The place is just beautiful, and I was very appreciative that I could join in the morning ceremony. Truly a wonderful experience.

This onsen hotel has everything I was looking for. The Tatami room is nice and big. The buffet breakfast and dinner offer great variation of foods. The distance to train and bus station is ok. The onsen is super nice. And all the staffs were great and super friendly. I would like to come back. I was super relaxed when I left this place. Thank you Yukai Resort.
Amazing experience at all levels, the lodging was perfect, I was expecting something basic but it was rather similar to a ryokan, big rooms with confortable futons, traditional Japanese furnitures, yukata, complimentary tea in the room, good and very diversified meals, commun and private sento with a big bath tub. Highly spiritual moments on the fire ceremony and the morning prayer, moreover we had a free tour of more than an hour to learn a lot on oesoteric buddhism and the ancient history of the place.
Comfortable tatami room with futon beds. Lots of storage space for luggage. Very friendly and patient host, he took a lot of time to explain everything for us, giving advice for restaurants and breakfast locations.
Amazing view! Superb kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Choice of pretty yukatas to wear. Comfortable futon beds. Shuttle from the train station.
This old-ryokan sits atop a hill overlooking the beach town of Shirahama and some of the elegant rooms have ocean views. While the rooms are tatami-mat traditional, facilities are good and there are western beds. The ryokan has a good onsen and the Japanese breakfasts are spectacular, while also giving a nod to Western tastes.i didn’t get to use the bar or billiard room.
Unique experience of lodging in a beautiful buddhist temple. The place has a very special atmosphere. The (buddhist vegetarian) dinner and breakfast were rich and very tasty. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. Good onsen bath. Traditional Japanese-style room (tatami mats and futon beds) was really spatious and comfortable.
A good hostel, in a good location (though Yunomine onsen is not that big). It had a nice tatami common area that even had a few games provided, such as go. The hostel had its own private hot springs, that are free to use: a lovely outdoor bath, a relatively big indoor bath and a rather small indoor bath. We had booked a private room, not big but fine with three persons. We received bento boxes for dinner and you could grab rice for free. There was also free rice porridge for breakfast. Overall very good value for the price.
I had a great time in Nagisaya Hotel. The room is in traditionnel japanese style (tatami and futon on floor) and had a wonderful view on the sea. The hotel offers interior and exterior onsen where I had my best time with the view on the moutain and a little on the sea (only men onsen has total view on the sea, women are on the other side). The staff is really friendly.
Dinner and breakfast was superb. Loved the old style room with the tatami mats, futon , river view/sounds and japanese style table and chairs. Tattoo friendly onsen in this place and bonus onsen by the river. Staff friendly, helpful and informative. Wi fi reception excellent!
Very nice owner. Good location close to the bus stop. Genuine Japanese experience of staying in Ryokan, among others with sleeping on the tatami. Digging own onsen at a river side is amazing. Food needs to ordered earlier than on arrival.
