Aerotel Muscat - Airport Transit Hotel, hotel in Muscat

Aerotel Muscat is a one-of-a-kind airport transit hotel, strategically located at Level 5 within Departures (airport secured area) of Muscat International Airport.

When faced with a 14 hour layover in Muscat I checked into options before we left Melbourne and found this hotel. When the business lounge options didn't work out as planned this became our choice and it worked well. The Aerotel Muscat Hotel is inside the airport and caters for people who are not leaving the airport and who only have carry on luggage. We approached the reception and found that booking online was cheaper but their advice on what options they had was invaluable. We chose to rent a room for 12 hours and take half board. We chose breakfast (6-10) and dinner (from 7pm to 11 pm). By 9am in Ramadan the hot buffet had nothing out but they made us an omelet and scrambled eggs on request with sausage pieces, baked beans and hash browns and there was so much we couldn't finish it. Sliced bread and toaster was available and self-serve juice, tea and coffee with slices of carrot and banana cake for desert. Dinner was from options of a set menu again cooked individually. It was a lot cheaper and a lot tastier than other airport offerings. There are also lounge areas or the airport if tired of your room. Our room was a garden view room though others may look over airplanes flying in and out. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and I was able to sleep well during the day. There was a cupboard with hanging space and you don't need much more luggage storage. We had a desk with comfortable chair if you needed to work and a couch as well as coffee and tea making and two free bottles of water but no mini-fridge. It had nice lamps and ceiling lights and good power and charging points. I liked the design of the bathroom which was a very modern circular design with the toilet on one side and the shower on the other with the sink basin in between. It had hot water, good water pressure, shampoo and shower gel supplied as well as shower cap and dental kit.

Reception staff were very helpful. Even Indian manager of the place was helpful. He understood my flight timing and extended a late checkout. Since on day 01, I checked into the hotel also around 12mid night. These little things makes the difference of someone being a one time guest to a repeat guest. Specially for someone like me who travels for business meetings.

FAQs about hotels in Muscat

Middle East’s Best Kept Secret

An enchanting Arabic jewel, Muscat was already an important port in the 1st century. With a strict building code that imposes respect to heights and styles, the city has developed a harmonized and traditional look that makes it irresistible. Don’t miss the traditional Muttrah Souq marketplace, considered one of the best in the region.

The city is actually composed of three towns: Muscat is the walled Old Town where royal palaces are located; Muttrah includes the old and new harbours and the Corniche seafront; and Ruwi is the commercial and diplomatic area. Check out the Muscat hotels map on Booking.com and choose your preferred location!

The city is surrounded by the Western Al Hajar Mountains, and the crystalline waters and sandy beaches of the Arabian Sea. Staying in a Muscat hotel on the beach is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Oman views.

The modern and elegant Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the largest in the world. Don’t miss the twin forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani, and the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace.

    Muscat is traditional city.

Muscat is traditional city. You will get a vibe of peacefulness in terms of city, people, beach, malls, and historic places to visit. 3-4 days could be enough to cover the sports. With a visit to the modern side of the area named The Walk is also a nice touch. Please be aware getting taxi is a bit tricky. They have an app named OmanTaxi, if you try to get a cab from your hotel, only luxury option is available which is very expensive for normal travelers, but you can put your location on next building to open the economy options to ride for a fair price.

Muscat is a nice and beautiful city.

Muscat is a nice and beautiful city. Souq Matrah is a must to visit. You need a car to get around the city, so best option is to rent a car. However, the food is expensive and overpriced at restaurants in the beach resorts areas like Al-Moge area or near hotels like InterContinental hotel and resort area, etc.

Muscat is a Jewel of Middle East but as an independent Solo traveler who enjoys walking and use public transports , I tend to struggle. The infrastructure is just not there comparing to Dubai where one has an option to use the Metro from A to B. Oman is spread out even from Muttrah to City you need a Taxi. Walking from Ghubra which is only a distant away from Millenium Apt, you would struggle to find a continuous pavement to walk on. So come on Oman work towards Eco Friendly. Nizwa is always my favourite place❤️ Try street food “mishkaki” bbq meat at Ghubra or Just pass AlMouj complex. Avoid May, June July August (hottest season) unless you are travelling to Salalah which is cooler season.
