Americanized beach town. Crowded waters to surf. Really bad infrastructure, roads are bad, no sidewalks and caos in traffic.
The beach itself is very beautiful and the waves are nice. Just the vibe is either you love it or you hate it.

Santa Teresa for us was a completely disastrous in terms of development. I cannot even imagine anyone wanting to live there. The scenery once you get beyond the mishmash of stores 3 centimeters from the really poor roads is wonderful. It is a surfer place and nothing more. I would not ever go back for any reason

Santa Teresa has the most beautiful beach.
Santa Teresa has the most beautiful beach. There are so many places to eat that have great food. Santa Teresa does not feel as crowded as some other beaches in Costa Rica, and I honestly feel very safe there. I would highly recommmend this place.

The property is amazing.
The property is amazing. The pool is super cute, the rooms are spacious and modern.
BUT the Beach Club/Restaurant charged us for things we didn’t order. We will always pay for everything we eat and drink but when things are added on our bills that we didn’t consume, we regretfully are super bitter. The hotel is looking into it and said they will get back to us. They have t yet.
Also, they advocate that they are an adult only hotel but there were kids at the restaurant and at pool.

Wooden shacks with corrugated metal roofs along a dusty dirt road. Restaurants use camping-style kitchens and where they get their groceries with absolutely no decent food market within at least two hours driving is their secret. There is absolutely no sewage system anywhere. Everyone just has a whole in the ground they call ‘septic system’. Just steps from the beach !! Would be interesting to have the water quality tested..

Lovely.
Lovely. Beautiful beach with soft sand, wonderful sunsets, great waves, a lot of nature.
A bit too many people (lots of surfers) and cars in some parts, but great offer in terms of cafes, restaurants, yoga and surf lessons.

It’s a no-brainer if you go to Santa Teresa! Location is 10/10, close to the best restaurants & cafes, the best surf shop (del sol), the best beach and also the area is not as crowded as other parts of ST. The people that run the place are lovely, their dogs (maya and salsa) are the best, its clean, autenthic, rooms are beautiful and breakfast is good! It really exceeded our expectations! We tried other more expensive places and we missed Luz de Luna right away. Would 100% go again!
Great location right in the centre of Santa Teresa, a few minutes walk to the beach and directly opposite a supermarket.
There are shops, restaurants and surf schools everywhere.
It's on a busy, dirt, main road but far back enough and surrounded by foliage to not be bothered by the noise. The garden was tranquil and we spotted some wildlife.
The breakfast was good (fruit, bread, cake, jam, tea, coffee or water).
The property was very cute and is surrounded by nature and lush greenery. The pool is small but was nice during the day, and we were lucky enough to see a troop of capuchin monkeys stop by to get a drink of water from the pool. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants along Santa Teresa. Extremely walkable area if you don't mind getting in some cardio when climbing back up the steep hill to the property.
The ICO Living Hostel is the perfect place to stay in Santa Teresa. I’ve been in a few hostels here but none was as good as ICO Living.
The owner is the most friendliest person i’ve met in Costa Rica. And also the staff is very nice.
The hostel is very clean, the kitchen is well equipped and the room i stayed in had AC, queensize bunk beds and a bathroom.
I can definitely recommend to stay there!
The hostel was in a great location, a short walk to the surf breaks. This is somewhere between a boutique hotel and hostel with really friendly owners, staff and guests. We stayed in one of the huts and it was really comfortable and clean and the bathroom was huge with an amazing shower. Overall perfect vibe.
Thanks for helping us checkout early morning when we forgot :)
Amazing place with great rainforest vibe. Ocean 5 min away, monkeys on trees, great jacuzzi for evening chill, we loved it. Luciano and Juan helped us with everything that we needed, gave us surfing tips and were very nice and accommodating. Ohanavillas is very close to best restaurants in town so if you are traveling to Santa Teresa definitely recommend staying here
Everything about our stay at Villas Santa Teresa was wonderful! We loved the location slightly removed from the bustle of the heart of town, but close enough for amazing dining options and surf rentals. The villas are right on the ocean. We would listen to the waves from our room! Camila and her staff went above and beyond to host our family. We hope to return soon!
So peaceful, nice location, close to everything
Staff guys are amazing, Guido, Antonella and the other girl with dreads (sorry I can’t remember the name) were amazing hosts
Restaurant very good, fresh food served in your table.
Nice pool, and I really liked the yoga deck too
Tons of things to do in the hotel and activities scheduled for the guests
- a lot of plants around, you feel like in the jungle
- rather boutique hotel - so not many people around
- our appartment - spacioius, well-furnished
- view from our balcony - to the pool + "jungle"
- pool - clean, nearly all the time only for our own
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel! The beds are comfy and I love the location, because it’s not so crowded and you have a beautiful beach close by to go for a surf or watch the stunning sunset. Wass very clean also and the kitchen is well equipped!
Great location - really close to beach + good restaurants close by. Amazing big kitchen..not like other hostels! Staff are awesome. Yoga classes are fantastic and the yoga deck is something else. Would stay again if I come back to Santa teresa!!
awesome property at the north end of Santa Teresa. short walk to the beach.
Best restaurant in the area 300 meters away (TP8). The massage ladies were out of this world!
Sophia is a great host! very attentive and caring about your stay.
The decor was very nice, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful.
Nice experience to stay up in the jungle of Santa Teresa.
Manager did compensate our family with a free night’s stay considering all the issues we had.
Great location, the hotel and rooms are well looked after and super clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool and sun beds come with the best view in Santa Teresa! Would definitely recommend!
The location is amazing to surf Santa Teresa beach. There are some nice places to eat nearby and the kitchen at the hostel is well equiped. It’s great place to hang out and meet people too.
Garden villa was amazing. Hotel is localized at the beautiful beach Hermosa, 12 min drive from Santa Teresa. Pool and yoga facilities were exceptional. Memorable stay.
The location could not have been better. It was close to the beach and the main street in Santa Teresa for walking to get meals. Breakfast was provided and good.
