What a lovely charm! Some of the previous reviews had me a little worried, but really loved the hotel. Breakfast was lovely and the staff went out of their way to assist us. FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Town is a city of contrasts, where the natural and the man-made blend together in a mesmerizing symphony of beauty and sophistication. This South African gem nestles at the foot of Table Mountain and is surrounded by the glistening waters of the Atlantic Ocean, offering breathtaking panoramic views that will leave you speechless. Cape Town is such a beautiful and vibrant city!

Cape Town is such a beautiful and vibrant city! Everyone we have met was super welcoming and friendly. However as the apartheid ended roughly 30 years ago you can still see and feel a lot of it’s remains. As much as it’s a beautiful city with beautiful people there are very big contrasts between the lush life in the city and the town ships around it…

The location was perfect. Right at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront and a short walk to the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre. Most days we walked via the Canal from the hotel to the Wharf and it was lovely. We especially enjoyed the water machine opposite the vending machine which dispensed free ice cold and fizzy water. Upon check-in, our room wasn't ready so the hotel stored our luggage for us while we went out so we didn't have to worry about carting our luggage everywhere. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Lola. Its set in a perfect location close to the V & A Waterfront. Russell and Alan are such amazing hosts, they made us feel like family. Nothing was too much for them and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel itself is stunning with so many personal touches, it's refreshing to stay in a place that is not clinical like the big hotel chains. This is truly a gem and I will definitely book at Lola again

This was a very welcoming little hotel, with friendly staff and a lovely clean room that had a fabulous view over Signal Hill and Lions Head, plus you could hear the sounds of the city humming in the evening. Parking is not on site but is literally across the road. Good location in 'real' Cape Town rather than the very strange tourist enclave of the V&A Waterfront.
