Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Our dinner experience at @bombaybrasseriect was one for the books. Attention to detail. The extra special complimentary 20th anniversary desserts was so special. Since our last visit they have renovated and it's bigger and better. Food even better than I remember. Service is superb. Who needs to go to India when we have a gem 💎 like this in the city center. Right at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront and a short walk to the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre. Most days we walked via the Canal from the hotel to the Wharf and it was lovely. We especially enjoyed the water machine opposite the vending machine which dispensed free ice cold and fizzy water. Upon check-in, our room wasn't ready so the hotel stored our luggage for us while we went out so we didn't have to worry about carting our luggage everywhere.
