I like the location of the town, the vibrant character of the town with its bustling shops and terrific collection of restaurants including a handful that are Michelin-recommended (but not starred YET).
I like the size of the town- not too big, not too small, totally walkable and easy to learn your way around!
A most beautiful location, on the wester shore of Lake Maggiore with snow capped Italian and Swiss alps visible on the horizons above the lake in early to mid may, and best (ferry) access to the 3 nearby Borromean islands, two with their beautiful tourable Palace and Gardens (Isola Madre and Isola Bella) and one for its shops and eateries ( Isla Pescatori aka Superiore).
Restaurant prices are ridiculously affordable compared to Milan or Switzerland: a foodie heaven. Michelin-listed restaurants (not yet "starred to my knowledge) serve exceptional and genuine regional fare, my favorites were Al Vicoletto, Ristorante Pizzeria Pappagallo, Lo Stornello, and the one we didn't have a chance to reach but will next time is on the hills above Stresa with the views called La Rampolina.
If you are a wine lover or foodie, be sure to stop by the La Cambusa Wine shop for a free tasting and learn the owner's secret favorites!

Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake.
Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. The lake and views are stunning and well worth a visit, nicer than stayin in Milan city centre.

A very picturesque town right on the water.
A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.

Nice atmosphere and charming town center. One of the best gelaterias !!! Great restaurants and nice to just hang out.
The Borromean Islands and the hermitage Santa Caterina are great places to visit - or you can go to the other side of the lake, even the Swiss part
Overall, people are very friendly

Proximity to the lake was excellent.
Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.

Not very much to do historically - BUT wonderful for restaurants, ice cream shops, views of the lake. A really good centre for a holiday on Lake Maggiore. Great to be able to go from there by boat to the islands very conveniently. There is also a railway station which is very handy.
This lovely vintage hotel is well maintained, nicely located in Stresa, and has exceptional service. Sylvia checked us in, providing gracious and professional help to ensure we had everything for a comfortable stay. Every hotel employee, the bartender, wait staff and cleaning crew were all excellent. it was so enjoyable to have a lake view balcony with our room so we could have a drink and enjoy the scenery.
Sempione Boutique Hotel has it all: perfect location in Stresa, in the first line at the lake, amazing rooftop with a view, very kind, helpful and professional staff, comfortable, modern and very clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Although travelling with a little baby and faced with all possible challenges of a young family, we spent there a wonderful, relaxing time. Thank you!
The suite we had was amazing - very spacious, clean and comfortable with a very large balcony with quality comfortable seating and fabulous views. The staff were excellent- a real asset to the hotel. Breakfast was presented beautifully and was great value for the price. We would highly recommend to anybody wanting a perfect place to stay in Stresa.
The hotel is authentic and beautiful and in a quiet location 5mins from the town centre. The staff were exceptional, very friendly and welcoming. We felt very looked after and relaxed at the Hotel du Parc. Also the best Spritz Aperol in the town !! After postponing our holidays since 2020 , Hotel du Parc and Lake Maggiore was worth the wait!
The location of the hotel is brilliant. We only took the car out of the garage to visit another lake in the area. The station and Stresa centre are a short walk away so is the lake. We swam in the lake and in five minutes we were back in the hotel. The shower and air conditioning and bidet were excellent. Room service was great.
We like everything: facilities, staff, food, spa, pool. Absolutely amasing place. We stayed at lakeview room. The view was breathtaking. The breakfast was fantastic. The spa is a world class with inside pool difficult to describe. The food was very good, like it should be in a 5 star hotel. The property is majestic.
The location was delightful, my room with balcony overlooked an old town plaza. The hotel was 5 mins walk to the lakeshore. Walk distracted by Italian stores, restaurants, bars, etc and traffic crossing. Absolutely beautiful area, snowy peaks, misty mountains, like something out of Lord of the Rings.
We stayed 5 nights at Hotel Royal. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
The staff couldn’t be nicer. We ate dinner there 4 nights. The food was great and a very good value. Breakfast was included and was also delicious.
The wait staff are dressed in suits bow ties. We felt like we stepped back in time.
Very nice view of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands, hotel located on the heights of Stresa, accessible by car or on foot for good walkers, very clean and comfortable, quiet, beautiful terrace and garden overlooking the lake, good sweet savory breakfast, welcoming and accommodating staff

The room and the hotel was beautiful a n d extremely well maintained. Really enjoyed our private terrace. The staff was very personal and friendly. Couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy our three day stay in Stresa. The breakfast and drinks was excellent too.
Great Rooftop Lounge Bar with an Infinity pool. Excellent staff service, really intuitive and very nice. Specious rooms, reception staff so friendly and forthcoming. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.
The room was large and you had everything you needed. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Oh and since it's Italy, one should mention: they actually do speak english and german perfectly
