Had a wonderful stay in Chez Maria Julia. Perfect location, near to the beach and shops and not far to the centre and other attractions. The staff in the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly and make your stay very comfortable. Also the food and menu is great. I would highly recommend.

I would have spent 3 days there maximum and spent the other 4 days in Tarrafal, instead. In general I enjoyed my stay there, but Tarrafal it’s a different world, where you can actually feel the culture and be surrounded with beauty. Cidade abelha is also a must and it’s absolutely beautiful. I would have loved to manage to see the typical ceramics, but people don’t talk much and don’t value much (unfortunately). I actually went to Sai Domingos on purpose to see it, but the locals said it was closed.MarlenePortugal - 10Scored 10

I loved the sun, the water, the history of the people, the moutains and the rest of the land, the beaches, Tarrafel and the kindness of the people. IT was a positive surprise.
IT was a positive surprise. Cape Verde is a great place to visit. Great sea front restaurants Street Art Nights are filled with fantastic music and rich food. Some great beaches in the outskirts Of Praia. Visited Tarrafal and Assomada and Cidade Velha for its History and beach . « Portondi nos ilha « was also vert interesting place visited. At Cidade velha we stumbled at Batuku ,a restaurant where we had the Best grilled garopa ever. Great funNeto - 8.0Scored 8.0

Praia is the capital of Cape Verde. The Santiago island is not the best if you are looking for a great beach experience. There are other islands with easy access that have superb beaches. We did a tour around the island which was interesting visiting Cidade Velha and Tarrafal as well as Sao Vicente. Tarrafal was a nice beach. The two main markets in Praia are a must see, also where you can buy some mementos.

Praia is a small "African" town, where you stroll around and enjoy the moment. There is actually nothing spectacular to see, but as a whole it is quite enjoyable. We walked thru Plato and along the beaches (Quebra Canela and Prainha). The restaurants there are really great: good food and nice view! But prices are higher than one would expect, more European.

I felt save walking alone at night My host, Antonio was awesome, he made sure I felt save and comfortable. He was more than a host, a great individual and amazing guy. He was able to give me a tour of Santiago, and I highly recommend him to any tourist wishing to explore Praia and its environs. We visited beautiful beaches, National Park, and historic locations during our tour. The winding road and the hilly terrain added much value to the tour.

I had popped in for a beer on a previous trip while exploring the area on a layover to Maio while staying a mile or so away. The property is in an excellent location for the local beaches. The hotel has a large pool which was not overcrowded and seems to be focused to a business clientele. Breakfast was a typical buffet affair catering to most needs. I did like the Cachupa! Our room was very large. An ideal location to explore the town of Praia and the surrounding areas.

I was here for a few nights after going to a few other islands in CV to see a different part of Praia (I stayed in Plateau at first) and there are some cool tapas and shisha bars nearby. While I didn't cook anything, there are basic facilities and a couple of supermarkets around the corner to the left on the bigger road. Also, vegans rejoice, the only vegan restaurant in Cape Verde is literally next door.

Idil was very nice and there was lots of info on trips and the different islands. There are some really nice restaurants nearby and the Quebra Kanela beach is not far, which is really nice.
