Villas Arqueologicas Chichen Itza, hotel in Chichén-Itzá

This luxury hotel offers spacious accommodation, nestled in the incredible Chichen Itza archaeological site. It is surrounded by a lush natural environment filled with exotic wildlife.

The hotel is very close to Chichen-Itza - just 5 minutes drive from there. The design of the hotel is really great - you kind of get into a hacienda-style building - pretty large (probably the largest compared to other hotels I saw nearby). There is a pretty large pool inside the hotel. The rooms are perfect to spend a night before visiting Chichen-Itza. There is a restaurant in the hotel with quite an vast menu, including food for kids and national cuisine, so we did not need to go anywhere after a 2.5 hour drive from Cancun. So, a very good choice if you are visiting Chichen-Itza and would like to get into a truly archeological vibe of those lands. As a recommendation (not a dislike but rather an advise) - if you include the restaurant menu in here and into your website, I think that might persuade more people to choose your hotel. And you are worth it because our dinner at your hotel's restaurant was really great!

La Casa de las Lunas, hotel in Chichén-Itzá

Offering free WiFi, La Casa de las Lunas offers accommodation in Chichén-Itzá. Free private parking is available on site.

The room was really lovely and the area of the place as well. There was a pool in the middle of the area, which we unfortunately didn't have time to try, but it is a great option to have, especially during the hot days. You can park inside the area as well, with a locked gate, so your car is safe overnight. The staff was friendly and helpful and there are some nice small places to eat around. Great place to stay if you come visit Chichen Itza, it's just 5 minutes away by car.

Get there early and head to the Osuary complex so you can have it all to yourself. Most people go the other way. The night show was cool, but not required, the daytime is a requirement for every explorer!

Stay in Valladolid and drive-- or better yet stay in Piste- and walk to the ruins and get there when they open at 8am. On the Sunday morning we arrived at 830am, there were less than 25 people that we could see-- total-- and no vendors yet. Our photos of the main pyramids have literally zero other people in the background, and we saw lots of colorful birds and enjoyed the empty grounds. By the time we left at 11:30am, there were 3 or 4 thousand people there, mostly arriving on tour buses from Cancun, and the vendors were aggressive and noisy and it was less appealing of a destination. YES get there as early as possible.

Always impressive to visit but too crowded and touristy the last couple of times. The parking lot was only available for tour vans and buses so struggled outside to find a parking spot. Had to walk 600 meters to get to the ticket booth. Next time I'd go as early as they open to avoid crowds, heat and parking issues.

    Chichen Itza is amazing!

Chichen Itza is amazing! Well worth suffering the heat and bugsI (even in February) There are lots of vendors selling their wares. I've read that they are not usually handmade, which would explain why so many things were only ONE Dollar! Heard someone say not to buy wooden masks etc as they would not pass customs. Bring: hat, bug spray, sunblock, water. C.I. is very isolated. There are tour buses that take you from Cancun to CI. It's a full day and usually about $120 dollars. Be careful not to confuse dollars and mexican pesos. At this time the peso is about 20 cents so 100 pesos is $5 dollars. I recommend bringing a debit card and some mexican $. ( Can be purchased beforehand at AAA) Wear sturdy closed toe shoes as it is very dusty and rocky. No stairs, however. If you take a tour, they will feed you lunch about 2 pm. Bring snacks if you are accustomed to eating lunch earlier. Be on top of your email and messages as the tour originally said they would pick me up at my hotel, but changed to another hotel the day prior to the tour. If you don't take a tour, I would rent a car. Bus and taxi connections aren't the best. I took a taxi from Mayalands hotel to Valladodid for about $35. Then I took a bus to Cancun central bus station, then a taxi to the airport. I spent about $75 and it took the better part of the day. Taxi's from Mayalands to the airport run about $200 US. BTW, the tour takes you to a cenote where you can swim. Bring your suit and a towel, plus water shoes. The trek at ILKIL was about 100 stairs and slippery. One last thing, as of February 2022, one must wear a mask in Mexico ALL THE TIME.

It’s definitely worth it booking a tour guide as there’s so many details that need to be pointed out in order to appreciate the experience. Though most guides seemed to be asking for 900 pesos, which felt too steep. So we were actually very lucky to find a guide called Miguel who goes around in a little car (as he’s disabled), who charged us 500 pesos and gave us an amazing tour. Also, you’ll find there’s LOTS of art & souvenirs for sale, and they’ll quote you double the price if you can’t speak Spanish… so I’d suggest waiting until the end and buying whatever you like after you’ve seen all the stalls and haggle!

This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained.

This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained. Kukulcan is amazing but you cannot access or climb it. Doing this ruin with a guide was essential as the experience would have been much less without the knowledge a guide has.

Fine hotel in Piste. We took the a la carte breakfast options, which looked better than the buffet breakfast. Great location to go to Chichen Itza (walking distance if you do not carry heavy bags). Also fine to walk into Piste for restaurant options. The hotel offers Chichen Itza tickets at 100 pesos more each as service fee. They were open about the price difference and also they told us if we would go early that you would probably not need to wait in line for the regular ticket sale.

We were Cancun but our Airbnb was terrible and dated, we decided to stay closer to Chichén Itzá and this hotel was the blissful stay we needed. Great WiFi, beautiful facilities, and the staff is amazingly sweet, kind and accommodating. They are the reason we decided to stay even longer, we traveled all over the Yucatán and this is the only place we want to come back too. wonderful place to heal and rest.

Everything was fine except for the fact that we had to pay US$ 14.70 (Pesos 292.-) for 2 cups of filter coffee and 2 refills (early in the morning before going to visit “Chichen Itza”). This price is completely ridiculous! When we complained the front desk woman was quite unfriendly saying that is just the way it is… 🙁☹️

Location is very close to Chichen Itza temple complex and they have an early breakfast so you can start the temple visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and hotest moments of the day. Receptionist at check-in was friendly. Pool was nice and very quiet.
