The staff was very nice. Check-in process was extremely fast & breakfast started super early in the morning, so I could even get breakfast before my flight. Hotel looks a bit dated, but it is very clean and offers all the facilities you might need. Is super close to a lake, so there were some beautiful views. Enough stores in the neighborhood as well.
We are located in a walk-able downtown of Keflavík and only a mere 5-minute drive from KEF Keflavik International Airport. WiFI is available through out public space and guest rooms.
Situated in Keflavík, 20 km from Blue Lagoon, Courtyard by Marriott Reykjavik Keflavik Airport features accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.
Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history.
Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history. It's super close to the Blue lagoon and volcano so, there are many options for hiking or relaxing. There's a grill place with a super nice man who told me a little about the history and life of Grindavik's people and he also sells awesome hotdogs. Wish I could've stayed longer but a huge storm came so I had to run away :)
Excellent customer service, beyond helpful at all times. Loved the "Aurora" wake up call on offer to see the Northern Lights when possible. Great overall facilities too. The location so close to the Blue Lagoon with a free shuttle was a bonus. Great breakfast buffet and Max's Restaurant was fantastic too. The menu was varied and the food was delicious. Children's menu perfectly adequate too. Very convenient for dinner back at the hotel if out and about all day.
The accommodations were excellent. The living space at the guesthouse was not only clean and well-organized, but there were also snacks, coffee, teas, supplies, etc,. Dagmar was very quick to respond if I had any questions or issues. My SMS was not working in Iceland so I couldn't make phone calls to get a taxi, and Dagmar was very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend the Grindavik Guesthouse, and would definitely stay there again.
What a fantastic experience! Completely independent unit with all the comforts and facilities! So close to many attractions of the Icelandic South Coast, such as Blue Lagoon, volcanos, geothermal springs and much much more. The local restaurant delivers food super fast (after 17:00), including drinks (wine, beer).
Grindavik itself is nothing special, but it's a perfect base to expand and explore further. I would totally recommend renting a car.
We were heading to the Blue Lagoon the next morning after our stay and this location in Grindavik was perfect, only 10 minutes away. It is a street over from the water and close to great restaurants too. The space is immaculate, brand new, beautifully decorated with gorgeous tile floors, counters and stovetop, a designer bathroom and amazing rain shower head, extremely comfortable bed that was sooo cozy, and all the amenities you could need.
It was quite nice to go into Grindavik after the midnight flight. The carless way to this guesthouse was fast and easy. The room itself was wery clean, equiped with towels, coffee, tea and with shared nice and clean bathroom and kitchen(looks new). All you need for one and even more nights, because from this place you can visit south, southeast of Iceland and Golden Circle as well. We used it as a starting point to travel arpund Iceland.
I wanted to start my trip with a quiet stay in Grindavik, closer to Blue Lagoon, to let myself rest and adjust to the time change. It was perfect for that. Everyone is really nice, it's a sweet place, cute bar at night, and the breakfast is basically how I eat at home so I was very happy. I traveled with my 20 year old son, and he was really pleased too. The rooms are cozy and very comfy. This place is very family friendly.
Great location and very homey atmosphere. Great common areas that are peaceful and comfortable to wait or lounge around. The restaurant is very nice with excellent views and food. The staff was exceptionally nice. As well there is coffee and honor bar snacks. The rooms are pretty basic but the rest of the facilities make up for it. Close by to blue lagoon by free shuttle or walk.
Bear in mind that there is no reason to stay in Grindavik unless you want a fast track to both Blue Lagoon and the airport, as there is absolutely nothing to do there, so you'll probably want to find some place in Reykjavik instead, which is gonna be dead cheaper. That being said, the accomodation was clean and well-equipped, so I guess there isn't much to complain about.
Loved this house! The husband and wife are super nice and fun to chat with. Right next to a playground and a grocery store. Plenty of dining choices nearby, as well as the blue lagoon. The woodwork was done by the owner, who has a shop downstairs, and they even put some drinks and chocolates in the fridge.
Very nice place to stay when visiting Grindavík and the volcano. The staff was very friendly and helpful. She made us feel very welcome and at home. Definitely coming back again when I’m in Grindavík in the future
Stayed here for one night during our travels through Iceland. The hotel was really nice, comfortable and clean and they had the cutest wool blankets in the room. Breakfast was really good and diverse.
The Retreat Hotel and Spa is indescribably luxurious, pampering, relaxing, restoring, and perfect! The staff, facilities, restaurants and the incomparable spa experience is all without compare!
Great place to stay in Grindavík. Clean and very calm. Fridge and some coffee/tea available in the kitchen. Close to the airport, the Blue lagoon and the Litli Hrutur volcano in eruption.
Location was in Grindavik, close to the Volcano. First day and night after our flight in. Set up like a long-stay suite with self-catering kitchen facilities. Worked for our needs.
Beautifully maintained. Convenient location for the Blue Lagoon and our onward trip on the south coast. Lovely location and view. A crunch for 4, but we knew that ahead of time.
Comfortable, well heated, well positioned, lot of space. For a small problem in the bathroom they proposed us another studio. Grindavik is a nice city.
