Opatija is a lively and popular tourist destination which offers sandy beaches and some of the most stunning coastal views in Croatia, evident while strolling along its lovely seaside promenade Lungomare.
The town’s streets and pristine coastline are lined with bright and colourful pastel-coloured buildings, restaurants, bars, cafés and hotels.
If your plan is to go sightseeing, be sure to visit Opatija’s famous picture-postcard statue the Maiden with the Seagull, situated beside Juraj Šporer Art Pavilion. Other must-see sights are the Old City and the 14th-century Abbey of Saint James.
Neighbouring Opatija is Rijeka, Croatia’s historic and principal seaport town and a popular spot for a day trip. Rijeka’s most famous landmarks are the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral and the 13th-century Trsat Castle, which offers magnificent city and coastal views.
Booking.com offers a range of hotels and apartments in Opatija and its neighbouring towns of Lovran, Ičići and Kastav.
This place is so nice and beautiful. And Lungomare walk is something incredible! I wish we had more time to explore the city or simply get lost there. Then visit the museums and admire historical villas, check out nice shops with souvenirs, spent more time just sitting and observing the sea in one of the cozy cafes at the seaside.

It’s a beautiful city with lots of Austrian style influenced buildings. I would not recommend it during the summer because for swimming in the sea it is not the best place to go to, as there are not really nice beaches. But for off season it is very nice.

Tourist Hotspot so most cafés/restaurants/bars are overpriced, often ridiculously so for the level of service. Also too crowded, even in off season. One exception: Pizzeria Roko, go eat there!

Well Opatia is an old tourist town.
Well Opatia is an old tourist town. It does show its age and set of problems like all tourist towns. But still retains its charm and different eras that build it.
A wonderful place to walk enjoy coffee on some terrace or a perfect sea food meal.
A smart home base point for wider exploration of Kvarner region, its hills and mountains as its islands.

Opatija is the Monaco of Isrtria.
Opatija is the Monaco of Isrtria. Beutiful city with nice beaches. It worth to visit Medveja beach, and Moscenicka Draga beach as well, the water is more clean than the main beaches in Opatija.
For food and beverage, I suggest to try Cafe Imperial, Roko, but the absolut winner is Valle Losca Tavern, where you can have the most delicious dinner in Opatija. Both of them, they need reservation!
If you are looking for an active nightlife with parties, I do not recommend, there was only two bars, Summer Garden (close at 12PM, 1AM on Friday Saturday), and Colosseum Beach Bar, but they also close at 1AM. Pula, Crikvenica, or Porec can be better options for partying.
From the moment of checking in, exceptionally friendly staff - especially Veronika and Tanja who made us feel welcome from the first minute. The hotel is immaculate, the room was spacious, clean with a gorgeous view of the sea, the food was outstanding, great variety, fresh and tasty! Wellness zone was so relaxing - the panorama spa is just divine. Overall, we had a great 3 day relaxing stay and will definitely be coming back as it's now in my top 5 hotels in Croatia to stay in :). Highly recommended 👌🏼.
Great terrace with an awesome view of Opatija gulf. We did use the hot tub and the loungers available for the guests. We enjoyed having breakfast in the terrace. The walk down to the beach is steep but nothing major if you take it easy. Great location between Volosko and Angiolina park. There is a big supermarket very close to the villa. The room was small, but it was clean and it had all comforts. Nice shower and airco. Private parking is a plus. Great value for money . Highly recommended. Thanks
I had an amazing stay at Carmen Residence Apartments! The brand-new apartment hotel offers a breathtaking sea view and modern facilities. The exceptionally friendly staff went above and beyond, guiding me from reception to my room. I highly recommend Carmen Residence Apartments for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The new facilities, cleanliness, sea view, and warm hospitality make it a top-notch choice. I'd gladly return and encourage others to consider this wonderful accommodation.
Small, cozy apartment in the heart of Opatija, with free parking. The parking space is most ideal for smaller cars. Beach, attractions, restaurants, shops a few minutes' walk away. Maja is a very kind and helpful host. Thank you for the welcome package!
A few things would make the apartment even more homely: for example, a microwave or wine glasses. But everything was perfect even without them.
I wholeheartedly recommend the accommodation, especially for couples.
Excellent central location! Within close walking distance to the water and right in between Roko Pizzeria, a great place to eat. I had excellent communication with the owner. She went out of her way to stay in touch and allowed us a very late check in by using the key lock box. I had two separate bookings and different friends joining me for each and she kindly changed the sheets and provided new towels. The apartment is spacious and very confortable
Top location in Opatija. Smootie var and cafes within one minute. Also the big Market. City is very close and also the Walking Path long the seaside. Free parking is the best also. Sauna use is available for 10 eur per day. It heats up to 60 degrees and the temperature is a little unstable inside due to the shape of the cabin so if you are a big sauna expert, this might not be your extra thing to choose when in Opatija.
Lovely host, she only speaks Croatian though, so it was quite a job to communicate. With enough gestures we were able to and honestly, I prefer this kind of contact with locals over very touristy places where everyhting is about time and money.
The location was perfect, just a few stairs down to reach the sea. Shops and restaurants are closeby for breakfast or dinner. The view from the apartment is really amazing.
Hotel is located at Lungo Mare, near by Icici beach. Sea view from rooms, restaurants and lobby is outstanding. Room is comfortable, has very nice balkony. Bed is king size and mattress is pretty good. Entire hotel is spotless, cleaning service is on duty all the time. Staff is very very kind.
When it comes to food(dinner), it was ok, where 1 out of 4 days was exceptional.
Nothing to dislike, amazing location in the centre of Opatija, the room was perfectly clean and comfortable and the hosts are super kind and friendly, Croatian hospitality at its best. Just take care to not be as stupid as I was and accidentally walk into the neighbours’ house when you are looking for the place! I will definitely stay here if I visit Opatija again :)
The hotel is comfortable and has a great location with amazing views of the sea. Although the wellness area is nice it is rather small for such a big hotel. It has only 3 saunas with up to 6 people capacity, too small.
The breakfast is plentiful with a lot of variety, there is something for everyone, but the quality of the food could be better.
Location, a big balcony with an excellent seaview, a quite spacious room, but first of all attitude and staff!
It was a birthday for my husband, and they prepared a room - not only a bottle of wine, but also a card and a flower! It made our day!
We also appreciated an opportunity to use a parking slot and a beach in the nearby hotel.
Lovely good-sized room with a sea-view private balcony.
Very comfortable superking bed. Good shower. Good aircon. Lovely pool.
On-site restaurant served excellent food and wine.
All hotel staff inc. Restaurant servers were very friendly and helpful.
Free on-site parking.
Very nice staff at the reception (both at check-in and leaving the next morning)
Thanks Booking we got a better room
The Parking was well organized, had a fair price and was from my point of view not so far away
Room was very big and spacious and bed was comfortable. There is an infinity pool which is big and nearby bar is very nice. Wellness is perfect and breakfast in this hotel is amazing and much better than dinner
- Fantastic location and phenomenal view from the room
- Staff is very pleasant and responsive
- Rooms are very clean
- Pastry served over breakfast is great
- Public parking spaces just across the hotel
The hotel Location is really good, Hotel pool, spa and all other facilities were excellent. Breakfast was Superb, so many different choices with fresh and local food. Friendly Staff.

parking fit 5 euros per day (in the hotels and on the street is much more expensive)
good location on the Main Street where most expensive hotels are located
