Isle of Raasay is beautiful and definitely worth the ferry ride. It‘s a great way to combine an overnight stay with a whisky tasting and distillery tour. The 3-course dinner menu at the hotel restaurant as well as the breakfast were delicious. We stayed in room 5 which I guess is the smallest but it has all what‘s required for a short stopover…
The tasting and distillery tour is for obernight guests free, which we did’t know at first but the hotel refunded the prebooked tours… the staff and tour guide were very passionate and friendly. It was a hreat experience! We would recommend it to everyone travelling around isle of skye…
Situated on the picturesque Isle of Raasay, a 5-minute walk from the ferry terminal, newly refurbished in 2013 Raasay House Hotel is nestled in a Georgian mansion with beautifully landscaped lawns.

The staff was friendly, which is really an exception in Scotland :) and we felt like home here.
Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbour the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 en-suite bedrooms with all expected facilities.
In 15 acres of private grounds, this hotel boasts spectacular views over Portree Bay to the Cuillin Mountain range. It has an award-winning restaurant and a range of whiskies on offer.

The Distillery is a great option to stay while visiting the Highlands and going up north. It's a top choice to feel and breathe the nature while enjoying a very comfortable evening. It is a good idea to bring the car into the island if you can spare the time to tour around - just beware that you have to fit your schedule to the ferry timetables and it can be tricky on Sundays. Regarding meal options, also note that there could be no other options apart from the hotel ( we were here mid-May).

The location, walking, scenery is fantastic, distillery tour is interesting and whisky tasting is informative. Staff are friendly and informative.
The downstairs room (6) requires work, has no openable windows, no AC and has forced air ventilation which is noisy and can’t be switched off. Basin is set far too low for use and there is no hot water in the basin. No place to unpack clothes so if staying longer than one night, have to live out of your suitcase

Fab location, accommodation.
Fab location, accommodation. You need to make sure to plan your trip around the ferry times or you will not make it to the island. Great for all sorts of activities on the water and on the land. We biked it and although it was taxing (ver hilly) the views and wildlife spotting make it so worthwhile. We saw two golden eagles for example. 👍

We only stayed 1 night. We have arrived with the last ferry. After checking in, we had a drive on the island end-to-end. Spectacular and very beautiful (wild).
We didn't had dinner or breakfast (we left with the first ferry), so I can't speak for the food.

Raasay is like a rougher round the edges version of Skye.
Raasay is like a rougher round the edges version of Skye. Definitely more to explore than just the distillery. Some beautiful, but pretty hard going, walks / hikes with amazing views and hidden gems...like the tiny cave on the walk to Fladday. Get a good map and strong boots and enjoy.

Intended as a stop over before our ferry from Uig to Lochmaddy the following day, our short visit to Raasay House got our holiday off to a great start.
The friendly staff were very accommodating of a family travelling with a large dog! Everything about Raasay House had us wishing we had booked to stay for longer.
The 20 minute ferry crossing from Skye is well worth the spectacular views of the Cuillins of Skye from the lawn in front of the hotel and from the bar where we ate in the evening and the brasserie where we were served a delicious breakfast.
Raasay House Hotel is in a stunning location. Our room was good, although a sea view would have been a bonus! The food was good and the chef catered well for my vegan daughter. The service and food was excellent. The views from the front of the house were superb, relaxing in the library, bar or cafe! We went to chill and be active and our goals were met! Dogs were accommodated well. Callum did a great job making us welcome. The receptionist was efficient and calm and Rachel was a lovely waitress! I felt a sense of community at the hotel.
From the moment we arrived at rassay house. The warm family welcome from fraya.fin .Alice. and the wonderful lady of the house Lyn. Made me and my dad feel right at home. Great rooms Great breakfast . And 2 minutes walk to the rassay distillery . With options of tours and dinner reservations at the distillery from rassay house we were well looked after and will definitely be visiting again to experience the activities that are available boat rides kayaking and more water activities.
A last minute decision when accommodations on Skye were unavailable. Great decision! The stay included a free tour of the distillery. We also booked dinner on site and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. Lovely pastoral setting and water views. Our room looked newly decorated, clean and fresh, very comfortable. Breakfast was also quite tasty — cooked to order. Not suitable for guests with mobility issues.
So glad that we stayed at Rassay. The Hotel is beautiful with a garden full of flowers, vegetables and fruits. All the staff are so kind and generous. My family felt very pampered by Berry a staff at the island. Spent the whole day visiting the island, the castle and Calum’s road. A must stay when you are near Isle of Sky. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Best egg plant dish I ever had. Must try it.
The Isle of Raasay distillery is one of the best places I have ever stayed. Between the beautiful accommodations, the wonderful spirits offered, and the fantastic staff, you won't be disappointed with your stay. This place is a must for anyone looking for great drinks and fantastic views. It's easy to walk to the Inn next door for dinner and makes the whole experience even more unique. We loved it!
Ferry trip to the island and a very short drive to the hotel. We were upgraded to the most fabulous room which overlooked the loch. The staff were so very friendly, the food in the restaurant was amazing and the breakfast was also very good. We would love to come back for a longer stay and have a proper relax!
It was a very special place for us. The ferry trip slows you down and brings you into a holiday mood. The views from the hotel were exceptional. "These mistcovered mountains..." We enjoyed every moment. The young staff was super friendly. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Highly recommended retreat!
The room decor was beautiful with stunning views of the sea and jetty. The dinner we had at this place was superb. It was a unique and memorable experience staying here. We recommend people to visit this place and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Raasay Island. We look forward to return again.
A small little place on this planet which was overwhelming and outstanding! What a magnificent hotel and distillery to stay in. Very welcoming staff and the whiskey tasting very enjoyable and relaxing. Breakfast was 5 star!!!
Best staff ever! Made us feel warm and welcome. Small island with lots of character. Only 30 minute ferry ride away and plenty to see on Raasay. Recommend eating every meal here. Worth the price and all local.
The property is located on Raasay Island, only accessible by ferry, but has a beautiful location overlooking the water. There are nice trails close to the property for one to pass time.
Loved the location, the room and the friendly greeting we recieved upon arrival. Very happy that the hotel was dog friendly. Excellent tour around the distillery included.
Very exclusive location on Raasay island with sweet wild rabbits all arround. Good food and nice gardens. There is a spacious library and bar to enjoy leisure time.
Amazing views, wonderful staff. Hotel was newly remodeled and very clean. We loved the distillery tour that was included with our stay. Food was exceptional!
