Self Catering Accommodation in Drake

The place is really nice. In the middle of the forest, we heard insects at night and birds the morning. It’s just amazing. Bonus: we had an awesome neighbor, Carlos.

Sebastian and Maria were the most amazing hosts. We had to change plans at the last minute due to road closures and cancelled accommodation. After confirming last minute availability at Bajo Bosque, I had a WhatsApp message 5 minutes later from Sebastian re-assuring us he'd be waiting on the beach to transfer us to Bajo Bosque after our boat transfer from Sierpe (we highly recommend this route in to Drake Bay). On the first morning, Sebastian took us into town and pointed out the best shops to buy fruit, veg and store-cupboard supplies. Later in the week when we experienced a power outage, Sebastian was down in a heartbeat with a gas burner so we could make our morning coffee and breakfast. We saw so much wildlife from the balcony of Bajo Bosque, with messages from Sebastian each time he spotted a Sloth in the trees. The Macaws were also a common sight in the trees road-side. We enjoyed the easy 20 minute walk down to the start of the Drake Bay hiking trail (spotted a Tapir on the road at night!). We were travelling with kids, and there was never a complaint about the walking because we always saw so many exciting things long the way. Sebastian also offers transfers at a reasonable cost which are well worth it to explore more of the Drake Bay Hiking trail. Our change in plans meant that we stayed 3 nights longer than originally planned, spending 7 nights in total. This was in hind-sight such a great alteration to our itinerary because our stay at Bajo Bosque was hands-down the best part of our 3 week holiday in Costa Rica. We'd also highly recommend a creek tour with José whose knowledge of frogs is incredible!

Javier and his son were very friendly and welcoming. We took the Corcovado tour with Javier and got to see lots of wildlife. Javier made a special effort to ensure we saw Toucans back in Drake Bay after being unsuccessful in the National Park. Kitchen facilities were good with free filtered water. Room was comfortable and the air conditioning was fab (despite comments we read before, we didn’t have to pay additional for this but it was important to be considerate with its use)

Great place to stay at Drake. Very easy to get to, close to everything. Staff super friendly and attentive and the place is very clean and has everything you need for your stay

Great spot, right at the beach. You can hear the waves at night. Ana and Gio are great hosts. They gave us nice advice about things to do. The co-living in the house went very smooth. The bed was very big and comfortabel. We slept downstairs. Ana was so kind to bring some forgotten clothes all the way to San Isidro. Thank you both so much :). This place is at the end of the road with a delicious restaurant that delivers just 1km away. It is isolated however that is what makes it sooo amazing. The wildlife and the garden and the gorgeous sand beach just outside the garden made it truly feel like Eden. Parrots and toucans all over as well as soo many other birds. The owener offered us a nature walk however our hiking boots were soaked from day before so we chose to go swimming and play in the waves instead. This was a huge highlight of our trip. There was a king and queen bed that were very comfortable surrounded by huge patio doors that open up to either screen doors or you can also open up and be in the open There is a fully equipped kitchen also and a large bathroom that had warm shower. The AC was perfect ..the owners were soo pleasant and attentive to all our needs they are both very sweet. You do have to cross 2 small rivers (in Dec) that felt a bit daunting however the oweners were super wonderful and met us there so we followed them through that part especially since it was night when we arrived however the next day I realized they were not that daunting even after huge rain

Very clean accommodation in beautiful surroundings. We were able to spot many animals from our terrace. The hosts are very welcoming and making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend!
