Self Catering Accommodation in Wellawaya

We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

The service was excellent. The villa had everything we needed.. The view from swimming pool is beautiful. We arrived in the evening, the host of the villa were great they offered such good service, we had delicious food. Highly recommend this villa.

We had a wonderful stay at this villa. The property was clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. The rooms were very comfortable, with all the amenities we needed for a relaxing holiday. The pool was a highlight, perfect for unwinding. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, always available to assist with anything we needed, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Location was peaceful, giving us both privacy and easy access to nearby attractions. Overall, it was the perfect getaway, and we would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Excellent location in the woodland, with a wonderful garden and natural swim pool in the river close by. No noise during the night, morning wake up with birds song. The structure is very well done and clean, the house keeper Kaliray has prepared excellent food, thanks!

Chic room with stylish interior and large panoramic windows! We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel! Highly recommended!

really recommend this place for who like to meditation and yoga.. this is our forth time in Sri Lanka.. we really like this place.. monk’s in temple very knowledgeable and giving more information about the Buddhist religion and meditation.. so really like there around the Bo tree.. very relaxing area.. they have nice breakfast …special they not asking mony.. but we give donations for them.. for temple maintain.. we really satisfied.. specially I will say if you going to ella just go there and do some meditation… best place for that dont miss that.. definitely come again next year to do meditation for long time 🙏🏻

The best stay I have had in Sri Lanka. The room was private and bigger than expected. And very clean! The view is amazing! And the homemade breakfast is also really good. The host was really welcomning and nice. ☺️ If I come to Ella again, I will defintly book this place again!

Very comfortable and clean rooms with a balcony and a great view! Very attentive owner of the guesthouse and his brother, help with any questions, good breakfast. Recommend this place if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday.

A fantastic guesthouse with a beautiful overview of the mountains around Ella. You can also see the train passing by in the valley. The host Maduranga will assist you in every way and can arrange a TukTuk for you whenever necessary. The location is super clean, the breakfast is splendid, the beds are comfy!
