Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails wordt omgeven door 348 hectare eigen tropisch regenwoud. Location is actually in the protected natural reserve. 350 hectare park contains well designed flower park full of colibris, primary forest, water fall. We stayed in a separate building, with direct view to Arenal and the forest: at the morning, one could watch all the birds: tucans, colibris etc. You have to walk through a hanging bridge to ghe restaurant, which has a marvelous view. The hotel organises free walks on the marked forest tracks, one can see buttetfliea, frogs, birds, spider monkeys. There is a 20 m metal tower that rises above the trees. When we were in the tower, a group of monkeys passed below us. Swiming pool and jacuzzi is right in the forest. Restaurant is fine. Upon arrival, towels were organized into a snail shape 😁

De Finca Amistad Cacao Lodge is gevestigd op een cacaoplantage van 60 hectare. U kunt er genieten van rondleidingen, chocolade en vogels spotten. De rustige gezellige sfeer. Super lekker ontbijtje en ook ‘‘s avonds heel lekker gegeten, huisgemaakte pizza op de steenoven buiten, op hun super gezellig overdekt restaurant. We kregen zelfs gezelschap van de poes en de honden. We hebben de cacao tour en de cacao workshop gedaan. Heel leuke en leerrijke rondleiding op het domein. Ze hebben een Goumet Or en Gourmet Bronze gewonnen in Parijs in 2024 ! Een gecarameliseerde cacaoboon omhuld door chocolade 70%, echt super lekker 😋 De cacao workshop is echt een aanrader. Je leert er de verschillende stappen voor het maken van chocolade tabletten vanaf de cacaoboon. En je krijgt de tabletten die je hebt gemaakt mee naar huis, mooi verpakt😛😝 We hadden de bungalow met overdekt terras met hangmatten, zo gezellig, ik wou er niet weg ! Jammer dat we maar 1 nacht gebleven zijn. Zou 2 nachten zeker aanraden.

Finca Luna Nueva Lodge ligt in Fortuna in de regio Alajuela, op 26 km van Monteverde. Het biedt een buitenbad en een spacentrum. Finca Luna is the perfect balance between environmentally friendly establishment and luxury and comfort. The nature (vegetation and animals from iguanas to sloths)around the hotel compound is amazing and gives lots of options to explore. The staff is wonderful and ready to help and support all your needs, including tours in the area. Our favorite was childrens eternal rainforest hike. The restaurant serves mostly food prepared with homegrown vegetables and fruits through regenerative farming. The accommodation we had was Casa Deluxe and it had everything you need. Swimmingpool is always accesible to relax, and it is cleaned with ozon, so no chlorine, which is fantastic. For practical matters, the internet through wifi worked fantastic (happy kids), and the cost of food was ok, but if you want to explore other restaurant options in the area, you need a car. Overall, Finca was the best place we have ever stayed. Hope to be back someday.

Hotel El Silencio del Campo ligt op 6 minuten rijden van Fortuna en biedt een buitenzwembad, ontspannende vulkanische warmwaterbronnen en een restaurant. Het biedt gratis WiFi. We had a fantastic time at Hotel El Silencio del Campo. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The grounds are beautifully maintained, featuring lush gardens filled with birds. Every morning felt like a mini birdwatching session, as we enjoyed watching numerous birds—and even a curious squirrel—visit the restaurant during breakfast. The on-site farm was a lovely place to explore, adding a unique local charm to our stay. We also appreciated the on-site restaurant, which offered different menus each evening. On the days we didn’t feel like venturing out, it was the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious and relaxing dinner right on the property. The natural hot springs were an excellent bonus—peaceful and rejuvenating. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to unwind in nature with warm hospitality!

Hotel Arenal Springs Resort & Spa ligt in Fortuna, op 20 minuten rijden van de Arenal-vulkaan. Het biedt een buitenzwembad en een restaurant. Er is ook gratis WiFi beschikbaar. Wow! Our stay here was perfect! The staff is exceptionally friendly in every area of the resort. We got a newly renovated room which was really clean. From the bed we could see the volcano. Breakfast was really good with a very big variety and the same stunning view. The pools were great! We loved the wet bars. The best hotel we had in Costa Rica and that for a reasonable price. We would definitely come back and can recommend the hotel!
