This is a very plush hotel set right beside the castle. The hotel is very modern but has been done sympathetic to its surroundings. Everything is spotless and the staff are excellent. The beds were supremely comfortable.

The Douro Valley is beautiful and there are certainly some lovely places to stay. However, the hospitality and helpfulness of our hosts, the beautiful and thoughtful decor of this accomodation, the perfect blend of traditional and modern of each single room are hard to beat, as well as the lovely and wonderful breakfast. As a bonus, John recommended the perfect drinks for dinner.
