Owners Lauren & Peter were very welcoming - very helpful with directions to tourist sites & shopping. The accomodation was spotless - it was recently renovated - new carpet, stove, sink, fridge with freezer, microwave - beautiful new bathroom. Roomy - comfortable bed- electric blankets. Well located - quick to city centre- quiet & peaceful - a few minutes walk to shops including bakery, terrific Indian restaurant, cafe, convenience store, takeaways & pharmacy. Spacious parking in front of each unit.

Alcala Motor Lodge offers affordable accommodation just minutes from Dunedin Botanic Gardens and Otago Museum and shopping centres and speciality stores.

The room and mattress were great. The breakfast was delicious and a treat that it was included. The hotel is situated close to the centre of town, so we could walk to have dinner. Wifi was strong.

So close to the Railway Station as we were going on the historic train the next day. Was able to leave our car at the accommodation and that respect it saved us about $30. We were amazed at the staff, they went out of their way to make us all feel at home. The restaurant was fabulous we ate all our night meals there and was delighted with the menu and the price. Very delicious 😋 We even stayed a 3rd night. And the lift was a bonus as we slept on the 3rd floor.
