The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and a 24-hour front desk for guests. We were genuinely quite surprised at how nice this hotel was. Visiting as part of a three week tour for our honeymoon, we stayed in 9 hotels, and some swanky ones costing almost 10x this per night. Somehow I remember this over most of them. Value for money, this was the best out of them all. Service was amazing (obviously, it's Japan). The reception, halls and rooms were mostly made out of wood and with the lighting low and moody, it was a very chilled and relaxing place to be. The bed was gigantic, and the amenities in the room just what you need - really good shower with good shampoo and gel, mirrors, water, tea & coffee with a kettle, pj's etc. In addition, there's a communal area on the ground floor with a fridge containing frozen fresh soups (didn't try), and a microwave, kettle, and all of the utensils for dinner in a kitchen area nearby. It's on a main-ish road but we couldn't hear any noise at all in case you have concerns. There's no restaraunt here but they offer bento boxes for breakfast. I'd highly recommend the Benkei restaraunt over the road for some extremely nice Ramen!

The female owner has an inquisitive mind, a warm personality, and a kind heart. Her English is good enough to communicate and ask for help. The sauna and the private onsen in the room are top-notch. I did not check the public onsen with natural hot spring, but heard it's amazing too. I booked the 5th floor with an ocean view, and the private onsen experience during starry night and the set rise were indeed amazing! The hotel itself is located in a remote little cute fish town called osatsucho, where you can find fishmen and women harvesting and selling the Ise lobsters in the morning by the port. It was a very unique and interesting experience to stay in that little town for two days during the winter when it was not crowded at all. The nearest convenience store is 10 + miles away. It was a very natural, grounding, even retreat-like experience to me, and it was drastically different from my experience in Tokyo, Nayoga, or Osaka. I did spot a few demolished houses with broken windows in the town, not sure if it's because of COVID or during the winter when there were fewer tourists. The big plus is the Shinmei shrine next door to the hotel, which is a very calming and spiritual place to visit and stay for a bit too.

The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests. We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a  100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring  rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful  Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!

Set 5.9 km from Ise Grand Shrine, Comfort Hotel ERA Ise offers 3-star accommodation in Ise and has free bikes. The property is around 3.6 km from Oharai-machi, less than 1 km from Ise Shrine Geku and 2.8 km from Matsuo Kannonji Temple. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. 2 min from Ise-shi train and bus station. Great spot, very comfy and accommodating.
